Dayshifters - do you take a breakfast break as soon as you get to work?
Good God, no! Where do people work where they can do this? I'm lucky if I can scarf some food before I pass out around 3pm. I haven't taken a real lunch break in the year I've been working.

Dental surgery vs. Plastic surgery
I can't believe that I'm the only one wondering if the plastics job would give me free/discounted plastic sx.

Is nursing a depressing job?
Being there for someone's death is as much of an honor as being there for someone's birth. It is very hard sometimes, and I have left work crying (I can ususally hold it together till I'm away from patients), but it's really special too.
-
Is it possible for a doctor to be as personal with patients as nurses are?
If I was doing it all over again, I'd just go to med school!
-
For what can you lose your license?
If the threats during staff meetings are correct, then breathing wrong will make you loose it

In my ER, we're required to do preg tests before giving Toradol. Does anyone else do this?
We do HCGs before Toradol. Rarely give it to women though.

Which schedule would use choose?
#2 for me. I'd love to do outpatient work.

Alaris pump: how does it actually only allow secondary line like meds to run?
Gravity. It would do it with or without a pump.

Job Predicament- Need Advice!
I'd stay put. If you want to go back to NP school, then take this time to gain experience where you are, pay off your loans and save up some money for grad school (you won't be able to work full time when you are in the NP program).

Anything I can do in school to maximize ER hiring after graduation?
A job as an ER tech is your best bet. And use your husband...as proven by certain people I work with, it isn't what you know, but who you know! Does your husband know anyone that works in the ER?
-
What is your favorite specialty and why?
I love women/children's health. I'm working er though.

Have you ever
Yes. There are many people that can pass the NCLEX and get a licence, but that doesn't mean that they are good nurses. More like technicians who can pass a test and perform some skills.
