Kaweah Delta Critical Care Nursing Internship
Congratulations on getting the intership! I want to apply to that same internship. How did you like it? I've always wanted to work on a cardiac or ICU floor so I really hope I get it. However I know that it's very competitive and even trying to put your foot on the door inside a hospital is very difficult right now. Do you have any pointers on how you got this position? I would really appreciate any help that you can give me. I was also wondering, what school did you go to? and how long had you graduated out of nursing school before you got the position? Thank you so much for your help!

Dental surgery vs. Plastic surgery
I decided to take the dental surgery job. I really wanted to work at a hospital but after months of looking and nothing, I thought that some experience is better than none. So far I'm enjoying my job and I believe that it has been a great stepping stone, I still hope though that one day I can work in a hospital in the ER.

Dental surgery vs. Plastic surgery
I wouldn't be administering any type of conscious sedation there's an anesthesiologist there..but it is under the nurses scope of practice to administer some conscious sedation drugs, such as versed, where I'm at.

Dental surgery vs. Plastic surgery
Thank you everyone this has been very helpful! Do I guys think that if I get the dental job I will still be able to work at a hospital in the future, maybe PACU setting. Because i would really like to work at the hospital in the future.

Dental surgery vs. Plastic surgery
Hello, this site has been very helpful with answering many questions so I was hoping your guys could help me out. I graduated from the RN program this May, and after months of job hunting I finally got a job offer at a dental surgery center. I would be admitting the patient and making sure they are ok to go under anesthesia and once their dental work is done, I would take them to recovery. This job is only 4 days a week and only a few minutes away from home. The other job offer I got was at a plastic surgery center. This job is per diem and work can vary from one day to three days a week, but I don't mind since I was looking more for a part-time job. I would be doing more things there, such as also being a circulating nurse, and the do the admitting and PACU. The problem is that its 1 hour away from home. I'm really torn and don't know what to do. On the one hand, the dental surgery job is close to home and is a sure job I will have every week, but I'm afraid it will limit me for any for any other job opportunities in the future. On the other hand, I think I will gain much more experience in the plastic surgery and can open many doors for the future, such as hopefully working in the hospital one day, but it is 1 hour away and its not a for sure thing there will be work all the time. Please help me decide what I should do. I'm really afraid that if I choose the dental surgery job, my option for other jobs is the future might be limited. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I told them that I wanted to personally turn in my resume and I had a few questions about the nature of working in the ER

appt with nurse manager
That's exactly how I feel like its going to be awkward. This is for a new grad position and I already applied for it online. But I'm so tired of getting rejections through email and not one single interview that I decided to talk to the manager since I really want this job and its close to home. So I decided to call the manager and make an appointment to talk to them.

appt with nurse manager
I wanted to go and personally hand in my resume to the ER nurse manager for a job. But since I can't just walk in to the ER I made an appointment to meet with the manager. But I don't really know what to say. I have a whole speech about why I want to work there etc. but I'm so nervous I don't know what to say aftetwards. What would be some good questions to ask? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
