I wonder if Hawaiian Punch and Cracker Jack's will also be renamed.
Sounds like maybe you don't care how Alaska natives might feel about it and would prefer to minimize any offense taken. Or are you advocating for name changes of the other products because of some actual "concern"?
Klondike bar, anyone? And for HP, they did away with that little tourist guy in the floral shirt years ago. Likewise, the same with the Frito Bandito and Pecos Pete, I think.
Seems like Christopher Columbus is taking the hit at present. There was a monument statue in Little Italy, in my old neck of the woods. Was vandalized and now being relocated by the city. The Italian-American influence was very big in central/northern NJ. You can't just un-write that part of history.

Do you think that history is being rewritten? I don't think that removing statuary or commemorative portraits or legacy renaming is the same as rewriting history.

I've been doing Italian language DuoLingo for nearly 4 months now, and love Italian cuisine and the people there generally. Getting rid of the Columbus statue was ridiculous! And now in San Francisco they're toppling UNION General Ulysses S. Grant because he owned a slave in the antebellum period! This Cultural Marxism is getting ridiculous!
I think that our society is becoming ridiculously hypersensitive. Eventually we are going to be afraid to say anything for fear of unintentionally offending someone with the wrong word. What about the Lucky Charms Leprechaun, how do the Irish American's feel about him, I say he goes with every thing else. Just saying...
In 1983 we were in Juneau, Alaska. My son went into a liquor store to buy ice cream. The clerk told him that only adults can enter a liquor store. Then the friendly clerk said, "How about you wait on the sidewalk? I am an Eskimo so your Mom can buy you an Eskimo Pie from an Eskimo, the only Netsilik in this town."

Resistance to any change in the status quo. Inability to accept other’s perceptions might be different from their own. Lack of empathy. Belief that they are seldom right but never wrong.
