me
I want to tell you a story about this incredible woman I know. I have known her since I was five and in kindergarten with her daughter. We grew up to be best friends and her mom was more of a mom to me than my own. Her name is Shirley and she is incredible. When I was a senior in high school, she was diagnosed with stomach cancer and given 6 months to live. This woman is still alive 13 years later. She relies completely on faith. The cancer has spread, she has had numerous surgeries and is always undergoing chemo. or radiation or some treatment...I mean all the time, but she is grateful for the life she has and she prays all the time.
I would never have believed it and didn't even up until last year when I started to pray and found that it DOES work. JMO of course, but I believe it!
I do believe in the power of prayer. But right now, I am having "issues" with praying and my belief in God. I still believe in God and I know He does good things, but given what my husband and I have been through for the past 19 months...my belief has been shaken:stone
I prayed before I got pregnant and during my pregnancy, and after Blake died..I tried to pray...but I stopped-I felt like none of my prayers were being answered, and I still feel like that to this day.

I'm sorry to go on about me....
I went to your website and cried as I read your story of Blake. You were given such a precious gift for such a short period of time. It is so hard to comprehend why G*d would take him and I am sooo sorry. I have no words because I have been through nothing like it. Please know that I am praying for you and your family.
i so believe in the power of prayer. people do it in different ways. i personally have developed a very powerful and unique relationship with God, my God. i don't follow a particular doctrine. i've had much grief in my life. what i have discovered is that all those questions and times that i raised my fist in anguish, "why did you let this happen?" or praying that my 6 yo dtr would live after a horrific car accident w/her grandfather....my dad was spared, my dtr. wasn't....so what i've learned is that you don't always find the answers you were looking for but more often than not, things fall into place, albeit years later and one day, you 'get it'. please don't laugh. i used to faithfully watch that show "touched by an angel"....that was so inspiring to me.......

i work in a busy er in the dallas/ft. worth metroplex. i don't really believe that anyone working in an er could not believe in prayer, either their own or their patients and families. i have seen too many miracles and answered prayers to list them all but i remember a lady brought in on christmas eve so badly burned that we thought she could never survive. she cried not for herself but for her two children lost in the fire and asked us all to pray for them with her. we did amongst many tears. she survived and praise god that one of her "lost" children appeared 20 minutes later brought by friends who had found her in the back yard.

Yeah, Um I think that is in the book of 2 OPINIONS right next to "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" in the same chapter as "you should go down to the street corner and yell to everyone you see telling them they are all going to hell."That is NOT Biblical!
People please, don't let a few boneheads turn you off to the most beneficial truth that exists.
I don't like people shoving religion down my throat either, religion is meaningless. God is awesome and a person benefits immeasurably from a relationship with him. My witness, I pray, is my everyday workings with other people. My witness is TRYING to be Christ-like which is not condemning or judgemental. Here's my soap box: I get so angry when I see people telling someone else that they are going to hell for not _______. That is not what it is about and they are only making things worse. Part of my family has hearts hardened by that attitude, it's painful to see them suffering from it. I witness by trying to be compassionate, loving, caring, and forgiving. I say 'try' because I am so far from perfect and I mess up everyday. But God is faithful (that's scriptural) and he loves me despite my inadequecies.
When I pray, He hears me!!!! And he answers. like i posted earlier, sometimes its 'yes,' sometimes 'no,' but other times it's 'just wait.' He is sovereign. I have seen Him work in my life many times, and I have seen him work in others too. I know a bunch of people who will testify to His ability to answer prayer.
Grace and peace to you all.
That was beautifully stated!

While I was in Nursing school the professors focused a lot on the power of prayer in heealing. We even had 2 nuns and a priest come talk to us for an entire 4 hour class block. My school wasn't even a jesuit school it a public state school. lol.
