prayer is a very powerful thing. i was accepted to the nursing program and will start in august. i know that i'm not the one that passed my classes it was the lord who was there with me, to make sure that i didn't bubble incorrect answers on finals and whatever i was tested on. the bible says the lord will never give you more than you can bear. so yes i strongly believe in the power of prayer. sometimes what you plan out for you (and your future) may not have been what god has prepared for you.

I agree with you. I also believe that we should thank the Lord for what may seem to not go "our" way because everything happens for a reason. My past experiences demonstrate that God works in mysterious ways. God Bless You!!!
yes, i definitely believe that prayers really works. I have had my own prayers answered. But we should not pray just only because we need something from Him, we should always thank Him for all the blessings that he's giving us. God bless.
Many years ago I was taking care of a woman who had slipped into a coma. This woman was dying and had a DNR order. I felt compelled to pray that if she wasn't ready to meet her maker , she would come out of the coma when I was there so that I could talk to her.
The next time I was at work she woke, asked me some questions, we prayed together, and shortly she was comatose again. She died without ever waking again.
May I ask why you voted no? You don't have to answer, but I do value your opinion.
I voted no because l don't believe in god. I really don't know why I don't believe. I think part of the reason is because I seen so many people suffer in life and I feel if there is a god he must be a very cruel person. Plus I feel religion ( or should l say religions as there is so many of them ) creates war.
God gave us free will, and more often than not it is the exercise of that free will that results in some of our suffering.
I do agree with the Idea that "Religion" has generally caused more problems than it has solved. If Religions would stick to preaching what Christ did there would be a whole lot less confusion. Christ preached two basic things, Love, and forgiveness. Everything else he said was based on that.
I am also glad that God is not religious. He doesn't care what the sign over the door says. He said whosoever will (there is our free will again), may come. It's an invitation to believe, not an edict. Being a Christian is not a religion. It is a personal choice to love a personal God.

I too have never had to deal with this issue and probably would be confused and frustrated at God. But I believe that we encounter things in our lives to learn from each experience. Ask God what it is that He may be trying to teach you and look for the answers that way. God doesnt always answer our prayers the way we want them to be answered, but in a way that fills His purpose for this world. Maybe to council other people that have dealt with this same crisis. He can use your experience in magificant ways. To help others deal with the death of a child. He may bless you just with the experiences that you encounter.
I will pray for you and your family to find the answers that He has in store for you. I pray that he will continue to light your way in the difficulties that you face. :)
