Hi everyone! I've been following a lot of the previous threads for CSUSM's ABSN program. I'm finally ready to apply for the Fall 2019 semester, so I figured I should start this thread and talk to the rest of you who are in the same boat! :) I currently just have to take the TEAS, which I'm signed up to take next week! Has anyone already submitted their apps yet?
@Lynngu no, they won’t consider you until your official transcripts are in for all prerequisites, unfortunately. But if you have taken your TEAS, I would say apply now so that they can give you your points eval. Then when you get those last grades they will have already looked at your file and it won’t take long to get an updated score. That way you will be in the pool for acceptances sooner rather than later.

No you can't be officially considered until you have your evaluation completed, which cannot be done until you meet all minimum requirements. While it's possible you could still get in Fall 2019, realistically you're looking at a Spring 2020 start date.

Ooh yes , I submitted my application before the priority deadline. I’m sad that I won’t be considered for priority acceptances but hopefully there are still a couple spots in June >.>
it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I had to wait until Spring I suppose; San Marcos is quite closer to me than Temecula. The thought of another semester going by is just sad to me haha

Thank you for clarifying! I wish they said this fine print on their website instead of saying it’d be fine as long as we’re done by the time the program starts.

Has anyone spoken with people who have completed or are enrolled in the program? I'd love to hear feedback from actual students but I've had a hard time coming across any.
I am an Alum. Ask me anything. I’ve talked to local community college nursing students. They have a harder time getting in and a higher fail rate, but they are younger and don’t have the background education of most csusm applicants.

Generally speaking, schools operate as a business. They want to fill seats and get confirmations early. They don’t want risk. Will they hold a seat for an unknown, last minute. No. Slow down. Apply if you want. You will get in give or take a few months. Congrats early!

Yeah! My friend/coworker is currently about 1.5 years into the program. From what I've asked her she loves it but it's definitely tough. If anyone has specific questions I can try asking her and passing the feedback along ?
The Med Surg and Pharmacology material cost my cohort one or two. Otherwise it ain’t crazy hard. Just adaptation, friend making, loss of sleep, and the ability to absorb ideas quickly for 2 years. Mostly it is just repetitive busy work to get you to remember things.
