CSUSM ABSN Fall 2019

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone! I've been following a lot of the previous threads for CSUSM's ABSN program. I'm finally ready to apply for the Fall 2019 semester, so I figured I should start this thread and talk to the rest of you who are in the same boat! :) I currently just have to take the TEAS, which I'm signed up to take next week! Has anyone already submitted their apps yet?

I submitted mine last month! I have not received my evaluation yet because my transcripts were not finalized until about a week ago. If I'm accepted, I plan to defer to spring 2020 because I want to attend the main campus. Per their rubric I believe I should receive ~48 pts in the evaluation

Dang, 48 points! Congrats! I thought I was competitive haha. I'm going in with just over 40, so we'll see how this goes. I didn't know you could defer if accepted. That's nice to know, considering Mt. San Jacinto is quite a bit cheaper, but I missed the transcript evaluation for Fall. Hopefully FAFSA comes through for me at CSUSM lol. This is definitely one of the more expensive programs.

Wow! Both of you have such great scores!! Congrats! I think I'll be applying with around 35 or so...depending on what I get on my TEAS next week. Hopefully that is competitive enough haha...we'll see how it goes.

@nursemelissae from everything I've read, 35 pts is very competitive! Good luck on your TEAS!

Has anyone spoken with people who have completed or are enrolled in the program? I'd love to hear feedback from actual students but I've had a hard time coming across any.

Thank you!

Yeah! My friend/coworker is currently about 1.5 years into the program. From what I've asked her she loves it but it's definitely tough. If anyone has specific questions I can try asking her and passing the feedback along :)

Just FYI and so I don't spread misinformation to anyone else reading this thread, they do not accept deferrals. To "defer" admission you must deny their admissions offer and request to be placed back into the applicant pool for the following cohort.

Question for anyone that's already submitted their application: how long after submitted your app on calstate apply did it take for you to hear from CSUSM regarding login info to myCSUSM student portal, etc?

Hi there! I submitted my application on 12/6 and got an email confirmation with my student ID number on 12/8. I received an actual login username and login instructions to MyCSUSM on 12/10 from the CSUSM student help desk. Hope that helps!

Oh, I getcha. Thanks for the clarification. I misinterpreted that.

From what I've been reading on old threads, evaluations are usually given 4-6 weeks after your transcripts have been received. Has anyone received their evaluation yet? I know it's kind of early, but just curious!
