CSUSM ABSN Fall 2019

Hi everyone! I've been following a lot of the previous threads for CSUSM's ABSN program. I'm finally ready to apply for the Fall 2019 semester, so I figured I should start this thread and talk to the rest of you who are in the same boat! :) I currently just have to take the TEAS, which I'm signed up to take next week! Has anyone already submitted their apps yet?

Did they tell you that you were accepted first and then offer to start in the summer, or was it all at once? I haven't been offered admission or anything (I have 40 points), so I wonder if it would be presumptuous for me to reach out to my advisor and ask if I could start this summer if there are openings.

If I were you I would reach out! They did not tell me I was accepted. Their email just asked if I was "interested in starting in the summer." They haven't offered me fall admission.

Hi guys,

I was also offered a spot for starting in summer today. So they’re still looking for spots to fill. Btw, I received 41 points on my evaluation. They told me to reply by Monday, but I most likely will not be taking the offer. I just hope they’ll fill the spots for summer soon, so they can start sending out acceptances for fall.

Oh wow! My points aren’t that high so hopefully I make the cut off for fall. Did you apply for the summer too? Or just for the fall? I think I’m getting a good idea of what they’re doing to fill in the summer. Do you know when the summer cohort starts?

I didn’t apply for summer. I only applied for fall. This is what they sent me in the email:

Our Summer cohort recently had a few openings and we are reaching out to see if you are interested. Currently your application is for Fall 2019 so we are asking if you would like to start in Summer instead.

They told me that the summer cohort starts on June 3rd. I wonder why they didn’t get enough people for summer. I wonder if it’s because not enough people applied...or what?

some people probably retracted their acceptances last minute and now they are trying to fill those remaining spots before summer starts. hopefully fall applicants start to hear something soon!

I applied for summer but my original points total was pretty low compared to y’all’s scores. I retook the TEAS and increased my total points significantly (still not as high as y'all's..lol) for the Fall application. They must be offering the open spots to the higher points totals from the Fall applications.

I’m a bit confused about them offering spots to higher point totals. I thought it would make more sense to offer spots to people with lower point totals, since they’d be more desperate to get in? Lol. Idk maybe I’m wrong.

Yeah good question. Maybe they’re thinking that more people will still apply for Fall (even though it’s passed the priority deadline), and those new applicants could have higher point totals too?

If you've submitted your application and have fulfilled all the pre-reqs, you should receive an email from your assigned advisor with an evaluation worksheet attached--that worksheet has your point total at the bottom. If you haven't submitted your application yet you can get a rough estimate of what your points would be according to the breakdown on the CSUSM website.
