We used to cover the hyperalimentation (TPN these days), with foil to protect from light. Before the dark plastic baggies came out. ?

Ah... So that is why they came in thick plastic bags. Never knew that - and had no reason to ask at the time.

Yes, to prevent degradation and formation of peroxides from the normal lights but also the bili lights.

Yes!
And on the subject of glass bottles, IV Hemineverin (chlormethiazole) came in huge glass bottles, only that was the tratment of the day for alcohol withdrawal. So you always got agitated alcoholics roaming around with IV Hemineverin, and at some point the drip pole would be tipped over and your glass bottle was shattered to smithereens. Happened sooo many times.

Old beds. Sometimes I will catch myself saying to "gatch the knees" and even with electric beds, the idea is the same. I get funny looks LOL

mmc5- I bet you get asked this a lot: "WHAT is a 'gatch?'
Just remembered this one, not me and I never did it.
Soaking bread in Chlorpromazine (Largactil, Thorazine, Sonazine) and feeding it to the seagulls that flew around the hospital then watching them trying to take off and fly when they were completely stoned.

It is a position change that the bed can do. The knees are bent at a 90 degree angle. It relieves pressure off the core. It can relieve pain following any kind of abdominal surgery.
