Nurses COVID

Updated:   Published

Hey all, hope you are all staying safe during this insanity. I was wondering if anybody has started to see crisis/high rate jobs posted yet? If so, post the specialty and company.

WOW!! seems a little unfair considering the staff nurses that have already been beat down by this crisis. Understanding the need to have relief available and that travel nurses get paid more on a regular, but this seems like more that your average pay difference.

These circumstances seem like more than your average nursing shortage.

Staff nurses should stand up for themselves and demand higher pay, or apply to one of the thousands of jobs that will now pay a fair RN wage and a signing bonus.

They'll be billions if not trillions of dollars given in bailouts. The people who will solve this crisis can ask for their fair share.

Specializes in ER.

I will be starting soon a contract in Washington state where I live. 48 hours a week commitment with lots of opportunity for overtime. Overtime is $144 an hour. I will be making a minimal of 5000 a week not including shifts over 48 hours a week

This is considered crisis pay. It's high risk. I'll be doing strictly COVID-19 suspected patients.

I think anyone is free to quit their job and sign up for one of these contracts. Of course, that means losing your benefits and seniority which is what happened to me when the hospital that I work for shut down suddenly.

Why not stay where you are? I'm only perdiem at my hospital job and I care for my mother. When this gets worse in my area, they'll ned me full time and I'll be depending on hospice staff to allow me to do that. I worry if they all jump ship to either take travel assignments or to stay indoors at home.

You think an agency would actually match that? Amazing if so.

The Netherlands gov't just approved a nation wide bonus for HCWs....

No doubt it is above the market rate for this week. What will next week bring? I suspect further increases.

Where? Send me the info.

Specializes in ICU/ER mostley ER 25 years.

How about we suggest that all the executives go to minimum wage for the duration of the crisis and forgo any bonuses they would have had coming this year. Use what is saved across the board for increases in wages for direct care employees.
