I am a new CNA from Long Island. I have not been able to find a position yet however, I was on an interview that offered me 11 dollars an hour at an assisted living facility. I have 10 years of experience as a Medical Assistant so I am not new to healthcare. I would love to know where your job is so when you move I can apply for it! I am making that as a Medical Assistant.

Highest salary in our state of Connecticut I came across was a Tech with 25 year's experience making $35 an hour in Connecticut. Really not much consistency regarding pay here. Some can make bare minimum wage here. On average see $13-$14 an hour. Hospital work at starts certain techs at $12.50, but other departments can be at $14.50 because they are part of a union.
I am going for my CNA while in Nursing school and trying to find work with the state. State averages $36,000 for CNAs.

I live in Georgia, moved from California just few years ago. In south such as Georgia or Florida your wages will most likely be 10.00 an hour give or take a dollar or two. But don't expect more then that because the cost of living is not as high here resulting in lower wages. New York or Cali pay much more but those states cost allot to live in, housing prices much higher.
Not true about Cali, the pay differentiates. Average is 9-12. Hospitals 13-15. Very few hospitals 15-19. But the higher the pay the more difficult to get in.

This quote I stated is that pay is higher in California, then Ga and Florida and it definitely is. I didn't say hospital or 15-20 a hour. My statement was in general pay is higher in California. I worked in California for over twenty five years and moved to Ga just a few years ago and still don't get paid as much as I did in Cali. I worked at a hospital in Cali for a few years and I work at a hospital now in Ga, and I can tell you that what I get paid now is the same wage ( by a few cent) that I was making 10 years ago at Cali Hospital. I also stated in my last post that California and New York paid higher due to cost of living. Here is the breakdown for starting at lowest possible wages in those state. Minimum wage in Ga is 7.25. Florida minimum wage 8.05. compared to California's minimum wage is 9.00 an hour and New York where the person who originally asked the question lives the minimum wage is 8.75.

Up here in the twin cities, I was offered 11/hr at the LTC I did my CNA clinicals at, but just landed a hospital job for 15.80/hr plus 1.25 shift differential for nights.

Around $11/hour here in the Denver Metro. (From what I've been told, anyway. Haven't started working as one yet.)

No idea about FL. In AZ I made $10.69 per hour working for the largest hospital system here, first CNA job right out of school. I've now worked for hospice for nearly three years and my base rate is a bit over $12 per hour. My night shift differential brings it to about $13.60.

You are right im a new Cna andget paid 13-14 a hour as a new Cna i never got paid under 12 before!!
Wow, what state do you live in, I currently live in Georgia, so my guess is your from a state on the west cost or a state that pays its workers based in cost of living in certain areas. it's most likely impossible to get paid more then two or three dollars over minimum wage as a New CNA here in Ga.
