CNA attire during interview?

Published

Have an upcoming interviewing with a LTC/Memory care facility. Is it appropriate to wear scrubs? Or should you wear professional attire? Thanks in advance for the help!

NEVER wear scrubs to an interview. When they say "dress for the job you want" it is not that literal. Lol.

The he only time I could ever see that as appropriate is if you are coming straight from work to the interview and you made it known when scheduling that that would be the case.

Good luck!

Scrubs are sloppy by their very nature. I've had patients tell me that it looked like I was wearing pyjamas.

And hell no should they be worn for an interview. I've never had a potential employer have an issue with scheduling an interview around my work committments. The only time I had to go straight from work had my interview attire in the car, did a quick spit wash and changed from my scrubs and got the job.

Well I guess we wear different brands of scrubs because I have plenty of scrubs that dont present as sloppy but I really dont care, thats your opinion. I got the job wearing scrubs and as I previously stating I would go to an interview in scrubs again if I had to, but I am a firm believer in professional attire 95% of the time.

I would wear business casual, nothing fancy. I personally wouldn't wear professional attire to a cna interview.

No scrubs. Dress in professional attire, something nice. Scrubs are clothes for work, you do not know what type of scrubs are acceptable in that work environment and would not want to wear anything that is prohibited.

Dressing in clothes that are ironed and neat looking, you do not have to be fancy.

I always wear a business suit to interviews, I even wore one to an interview for a volunteer position at my local VAMC when I was in nursing school. I just think it sets a good tone for my motivation for the position and that I try to carry myself to professional standards in all work settings. There has been one time I wore scrubs and that was my most recent job interview because I was told to wear scrubs, since I was going to shadow after my interviews were finished. So I made sure they were clean and pressed. I also made sure I fit the bill for uniform standards while in the scrubs, nails less than 1/4 inch, no dangly jewelry, OSHA approved shoes, socks over ankles, minimal makeup and hair neatly done, and I wore the scrub color the hospital had their nurses wear. I am Type A and like to make a good first impression.

Unless the potential employer states to wear scrubs, go with business causal.

If you are a woman and have the body to rock something a little on the skimpy side and know your interviewer is male, it will definitely work in your favor. That is the only hint I will provide. My "free" good deed for the day. I charge money for anything more.

Bad idea. Bad, bad idea. Dress for success, not sex.

NoADLs is a parody poster. In general, do the opposite he says, and you'll be fine.

Thanks all! Wore business casual and got the job surprisingly at the pay I wanted! Appreciate your help!
