CNA attire during interview?

Published

Have an upcoming interviewing with a LTC/Memory care facility. Is it appropriate to wear scrubs? Or should you wear professional attire? Thanks in advance for the help!

Congratulations.

I purchased a pants suit for my pinning ceremony with the intention to wear it for interviews and it worked out well.

Business attire for sure. Show the interviewer you took the time to make yourself look really nice and professional. That you take this interview seriously.

Are you serious? Is crawling under the desk a go also?

Scrubs are sloppy by their very nature. I've had patients tell me that it looked like I was wearing pyjamas.

And hell no should they be worn for an interview. I've never had a potential employer have an issue with scheduling an interview around my work committments. The only time I had to go straight from work had my interview attire in the car, did a quick spit wash and changed from my scrubs and got the job.

THIS. Don't be dragging all those gross things on your scrubs to my office:)

As the Administrator/Director of a hospital based (& fairly large) Home Health & Hospice, I have interviewed many applicants. Although, being a bit old school, I do expect at least business casual for an interview, I do take exception when the nurse is coming right from or on their way to their current position for which they wear scrubs. In short, I believe it would depend on the circumstances.

Don't wear scrubs to an interview. Ever. I always wear at a minimum business casual and I even busted out my power suit for my RN interviews. Depending on the facility, you may even find that you don't wear scrubs at work. When I worked at an assisted living memory care unit, we didn't wear scrubs because it was supposed to be more of a home environment.

I've discovered that when you dress ready for work they know you're committed to the field & are more impressed. I've always been highly complimented on this & put right to work that day. Being prepared on your own reflects respect & dedication to the field.

Congratulations!

I wore scrubs to my last job interview since I ran up to talk to the manager while I was on a 10 minute break in another department. I was only asking about the job but he hired me on the spot. Fortunately my reputation preceded me. There were tons of applicants for the job. If I had planned an interview on a day off I would certainly have worn business attire.
