Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

Three kids this morning already from gym with injuries.

Oh, and had a staff member come up and ask me if a place on her face was skin cancer.

No clue, you should get it checked out, I am not a pathologist nor do I have a microscope under my desk.

And speaking of under my desk, my small trash can that I brought from home is missing! C'mon now! It seems a lot of things are going missing from my office lately.

Sorry for the rants. BUT on the plus side: I opened a package yesterday addressed to hubs (I thought it was a new pulse ox that he was ordering for me) and it was a FitBit Charge HR!!! Apparently it was supposed to be my birthday present...whoops. I love it!

Me too, a little. ;)

I've been having episodes of bradycardia while awake, I told him I wanted him to secretly check my HR while I was asleep, so I could see if it dropped lower. This was his solution. He's a keeper.

I love you, Sully.

But I cannot sing that to a bunch of 8th graders...

Sure you can... they prolly know all the words!!

I had a kid come into my office asking for a shirt because she was self conscious. Her shirt was almost see through. Mom set that out for her to wear.

PTO President's kid? There's a mother of the year for you.

Today is a "just because your sibling is home sick doesn't mean that you get to go home sick" kind of day! C'Mon Now

Oh, yes. I love the "my stomach hurts and I feel like I'm gonna throw up and my brother is sick" speech. I tell them that I have to base my assessment on what is happening here in my office rather than what is happening at home.

"My stomach and head hurts."

Where are you supposed to be?

"Lunch."

Go eat lunch!

I have a diabetic student who for the 3rd time this month has not gotten his breakfast at home. The agreement between mom and I was he was to have breakfast at home so he can have his insulin for carbs since I wouldn't be in the building when he eats. The first two times was due to the bus arriving early and when I spoke to mom she said, "well he had OJ in the morning" I told her OJ is not breakfast and he has to have a meal so he doesn't drop during the day. Then yesterday at the end of the day the student told me he ate some crackers when I wasn't in my office because he didn't have breakfast. I asked him why and he told me there wasn't food at the house and mom said to eat crackers at school. C'MON

My school has kids that come in with no lunch for the same reason. Not a factor of money, but a factor of overbooked kids.

I should clarify that these are his crackers for gym class and if he was to have it as a snack he has to have insulin for carbs. He knows this but he decided to eat them anyway.

A copy of an actual note from this morning with names deleted:

Snowflake came to the office c/o lump on his forehead that hurt when he took the PARCC testing, and didn't want to take the test because he didn't want his head to hurt. No lump was visualized or felt by nurse. Student was advised that he could not be excused from testing due to a lump on the head. Returned to class. Avalonian RN
