i thought this would be a great place for us to ask each other questions and help each other out with concerns, school work etc... during the next year.
please feel free to join if you are starting your lpn program this fall. :balloons:
my name is michelle, i'm 30 and i live in virginia. i'm looking forward to meeting all of you.
Hi everyone...I think this Club LPN idea is great. It seems like there are alot of us mothers here and with trying to go to school and raise a family, we could all use as many friends as we can get. I am almost 28 and I have 4 kids (ages 9,6,4,2).
I just found out Monday (Aug 1st) that I was definitely accepted, but now I have to have everything taken care of by registration on the 11th. I'm a nervous wreck. I just went to the Sheriff's Office yesterday to be fingerprinted and had a background check done. Now I have to take the CPR class, Tb test, Hep B shot and a physical and I only have 8 more days. There were 91 applicants for the program and only 45 of us got accepted so if we don't have everything taken care of by deadline someone else gets our spot. STRESSFUL....
But, I'm very excited. I'm also very scared of what I"m getting myself into. I know it will be a challenge, but I'm up for it. I bought a set of scrubs so that whenever I feel overwhelmed I can put it on and remember that there is a reward at the end of the journey. Hopefully that will help me get through it and I'm looking forward to sharing this time with all of you.
Good Luck and Best Wishes for us all !!!!!!!!!!!!
Your post reminded me of myself, I just recently found out that I was accepted into the program. There were 150 applicants, and only 40 seats. Did you have to take the NET test? It is stressful knowing if you don't get everything finished someone else gets are spot. But that is what really motivates us to get all this done by the deadline. I went the first day I found out and did a Physical, TB test, Rubella Titer, and drug test at once. I'm glad my physician was flexible that day. I'm a little stressed myself, and I know it will be a challenge, and it will all pay off in the end. I'm one who never gives up. I'm very excited also, I've waited a long time for this. Best of luck to you and me too!!
Hello to everyone...
I just thought I would introduce myself since I'm new... I was a RN student years ago. But, due to my Mothers CAncer I had to take a break.. now, I am thinking about starting the LPN program here in Pa. I really liked the one I was in in NY but, because of how far ahead I was in the RN program I was asked to either test out or come back only once a week.. which was silly so, I moved back to this area (PA) & now that I would have to wait till next fall to enter the regular Rn program at Penn STate I'm thinking of just going for my LPn first then finishing up my RN.. I have so many friends that have done this in the end that I would end up having the same teachers they had & they loved the program.. they actally all work at the same nursing home as well!! so, I hope you don' t mind if I peep in once and a while to see how you are doing & to let you know when I get to take my entrance exam.. the program doesn't start till March 06.. missed the cutoff for the august class which is ok since I was not ready yet anyways... GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!
AND I hope to talk to you soon

Arrggg! I can't believe that this summer has flown by so quickly-- and now I am getting ready to begin my LPN program in two weeks. I am so scared! What if I fail, what if I forget something important when I am in clinical, what if I say the wrong thing to a patient? EEK! I know I am also at a disadvantage as I couldn't afford to buy my books in advance as many of my future classmates did. Any last minute words of advice out there??
Hope you all are well!
Sarah

Well I'm almost done with everything I have to do. I am only lacking my Hep B shot which should be ready for me tomorrow. Thank God I managed to get everything done. I'm really glad that I found this site and there are others out there that I can talk to when it seems like it's getting hard. I have alot of support from my family but none of them have done this before so they don't really understand how important it truly is to me. Sometimes I have trouble with my computer and I'm not able to go through all the threads. Does anyone know if this site has a "private message" or "email" feature?
Once again, Good Luck and I will be praying for us all.!!!!!!!!!

Hey Stormynights,
Good luck to you. I see you are in Southern Illinois. I live in Western Ky but will be attending school in Southern Illinois. I start classes on Aug 17th. Only 8 more days...I'm so excited, yet scared silly.:chair: I'm keeping a blog to record my nursing school experience. The address is in my profile if anyone wants to read it. I figure friending other lpn/lvn's maybe a good lifeline to have, cause I've heard this is going to be one bumpy ride. Glad this thread is here!:) Good luck to everyone!

Hello WannaBLPN2005, what school will you be attending? I'm at Southeastern, located outside of Harrisburg. We don't start til' the 22nd. I'm really nervous, but excited to. I also heard it will be a rough ride, espically the instructors. But I'm ready, and I will give it my all. Best of luck to you!!! Keep in touch, I want to know how your first day goes!! And can you tell me how to post a picture in the avatar, I see you have donkey in yours, and the signature, do you know how to do that. I looked, but didn't find anything.
