Clipping nails at nurse's station

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I live in Alabama and several nurse's where I work clip their nails at the nurse's station and I find that to be horribly disgusting. Has anyone else had coworkers who do this? Does it bother you all or am I just being fussy?

While I find nail-clipping at the desk to be rather unprofessional, at least they weren't doing their toenails :dead:

I am, unfortunately, reminded of the time we had several CNA's that loved to tan. Two of them must've overdone it because their skin was peeling. So, there we are, sitting at the very tables we eat at, and these gals start peeling their skin and flecking it onto the floor! :yuck:

I have no clue what people are thinking, sometimes.

That's disgusting. Did someone say something?

I have 0 problems with this. I've done it myself. If you have 1 patient and it's 1am and you notice they are kinda long...

As far as being a "sharps"...seriously?

Oh, yes. We were in the breakroom listening to report when they did this. I remember Old Nurse T turned around to see what everyone was twittering about.

You remember those really really stern old-school nurses? That was Nurse T. She laid into those aides, and I'm sure the last echoes of her voice are still reverberating across space to this day.

Is this a trick question? :cheeky:

Had a coworker, who, no lie, brushed her teeth in our sink in the breakroom.

You know, the sink where we wash our dishes.

YUUUUCCCKKKKKKKKKK

some people just don't get it.

Wha?!!!! No man I would've called them out right there and then. I would've asked what the hell were they thinking doing that in the break room sink.

I swear, there was a fart thread some weeks back. Everyone was cool with blowing farts all the nurse's station. Nail clipping at the nurse's station? No. That is "of the devil'.

Like, a poster in the thread actually used the word 'appalled'. (Lol) Im appalled over reasonable issues, like, violence in the middle east. Im not 'appalled' that any would clip fingernails at the nurse's station. This site is just...I swear, a lot of people on here just go with the popular opinion of the thread and whatever the popular posters type/think. People are offended and morally outraged over the dumbest freaking things on this site. This, being an example

To answer the question, I wouldnt have a problem with it. I probably wouldn't notice. Id notice someone farting on me, though. (Lol)

Lol I'm not okay with farting either! But definitely not morally outraged. Just super disgusted with it all hahaha.

I'm shocked by some of the responsibility need in this thread. I brush my teeth at work. I have a toothpaste, toothbrush, and floss in my locker. I do it in the lockeroom. I care about hygiene, sorry if that grosses people out. I can't stand to have food on my teeth.

Also, what if you have junk under your nails and it's a bacterial issue to other patients? Again, maybe not at the nurses station, but seriously, I see it as infection control and it would not bother me to see it.

You our want to know what grosses me out? Handwashing dishes. I'm not kidding. Soggy food and it getting left in the sink? Grossest thing ever. I wash absolutely everything in my dishwasher. And I would never bring dishes from home. I can't stand dried on food either.

Different things gross different people out. Ive had people look at me oddly for brushing my teeth at school also. Don't care. I also have a fear of dentists.

It person who posted about a co worker brush their teeth was brushing it in the break room, NOT the locker room.

Some things are supposed to be done in the comfort of a bathroom...I believe that is one of them-just sayin'.
