Clipping nails at nurse's station

What bothers you more? Cleaning up poop or seeing your coworkers clip their nails at the nursing station?

Caring for sick patients is my job and I love my job. . Cleaning up waste from someone sick or incontinent patients , though not my favorite thing about being a nurse (is it anyone's?) is not comparable to an able bodied nurse coworker sitting at the nurse station clipping his or her nails.

Ok, that is really weird. And somewhat inappropriate.

Thankfully (hopefully) they are not then whipping off their shoes and socks and clipping their toenails. With that being said, are they bringing their own clips to work? Or are they (EWWWWW) using a community clipper? One that is in stock on the floor for patient use?

(fun fact o the day.....there can be rules regarding not using clippers on patients/resident's nails)

Reminds me of old movies where the secretary is smacking gum and filing their nails at their desks.

Seriously, clippers are sharps and all of this sounds like an infection control nightmare...

I don't know. I've seen that behavior at my work before and it has never bothered me as long as they clean up the area after clipping their nails. I'd rather sit with a coworker that is doing that than to clean disgusting bodily fluids.

An errant ragged nail, okay, but sitting there clipping one's nails while on the clock? Don't tell me they don't have something else productive they could be doing.

If it is a snagged nail they need to quickly fix, ok, but if it's routine nail care, they can do their grooming in private. It is discourteous to do grooming in a shared space.

Wow I can't believe people are saying that wouldn't really bother them! I think that's absolutely disgusting and shows a complete lack of understanding of appropriate professional behavior.

I'm with jadelpn on that one. I was about to say at least they're not cutting their toenails. Just hearing that plink! plink! sound set my teeth on edge.

That reminds me of a funny embarrassing moment. At a place I used to work, I once walked into a changing room only to come face to face (so to speak) with a... Well, let's call him a gentleman... Who was liberally applying moisturizing lotion to his legs... While being completely naked, one leg up on the bench. When he saw me he just said "oh hey man, how's it going?"

All I could think of was don't make eye contact, don't make eye contact. People... :no:

I agree. It wouldn't totally gross me out, but it's not at all appropriate imo.
