What holds do you all have? I only have one for a background check & am worried that might be a mistake/oversight and wanted to check. Thank you

Clipping nails at nurse's station
Thank you all for your responses. What I witnessed was routine nail care not any nail emergencies.

Clipping nails at nurse's station
@Canucks RN Caring for sick patients is my job and I love my job. . Cleaning up waste from someone sick or incontinent patients , though not my favorite thing about being a nurse (is it anyone's?) is not comparable to an able bodied nurse coworker sitting at the nurse station clipping his or her nails.

Clipping nails at nurse's station
I live in Alabama and several nurse's where I work clip their nails at the nurse's station and I find that to be horribly disgusting. Has anyone else had coworkers who do this? Does it bother you all or am I just being fussy?

Jefferson State Community College Summer 2013 Hopefuls
I recommend the Jefferson Campus. I failed 2nd at Shelby (full time days) and am now at Jefferson and it is A LOT easier. Also the students in 5th get to precept where they want on the Jefferson campus but at Shelby, even though they ask you, you very, very rarely get to precept at the hospital let alone area that you want. Where you precept is a big deal so I am so glad I ended up at Jefferson campus :)

Failed 1st Fundamentals Test
I made a low c so I can recover hopefully. This was the first of 5 exams to be given in this course. Our test was supposed to cover the chapters on hygiene & vitals only but there were several questions on safety & asespsis. It is those questions that have me the most upset and I don't understand why they were on that test. Monday we will go over the exam and I hope my instructor explains that. I really felt I prepared a lot & so it was very easy for me to recognize what was not in those chapters. Thank you for the advice. I change answers even though almost every time I do I originally had the correct one. I'm going to do my best to resist changing my answers from now on :)

Failed 1st Fundamentals Test
The highest grade was an 86 and the class average was 72 (passing is 75) 75% failed the test. I'm so upset. Are these typical grades on these type of tests? The test had 45 questions and there are 64 students.

Jeff State Spring 2013 Hopefuls
We had our first Fundamentals test and there were no "A's". Only 15 students out of 64 passed. I think the average grade was a 72.

Things are even worse now. The level of disorganization is unreal. We were given wrong dates for our validations, about 5 calanders, had stuff (7 chapters) dropped from a test a week before the test (we'll eventually be tested on it). Our pharm test was cancelled because of the weather and they will let us know before our next pharm class when it'll be. We have only see a demo in injections lab and are supposed to be validated the 13th. Our other labs were so rushed with very little practice and there are no open labs. Is it like this at every campus or just Shelby? Oh it least they stopped all the video taping and picture taking by students because it was a huge desaturation.

Jeff State Spring 2013 Hopefuls
Today was my first week of nursing school at the Shelby campus. The teachers are both great lecturers so that's good. The thing I don't like is that so many (the majority) in my class are total snobs. There are several who already have degrees in other things, work at the hospital or in medical offices and think they are above the rest of us. Then there's another bunch that sits with their little clique of friends and gives you the evil eye if you dare try to strike up a friendly conversation with them. I am dredding the lab aspect of nursing classes now I thought people in nursing school would be a little more friendly.........boy was I wrong

That's okay :) I plan on losing mine so I can get a new one one day when my hair looks decent lol :) It was crazy to do it like that. I think I spent two hours standing in both of those lines. It was during orientation that the mentioned Anniston as a clinical site in a later semester. Maybe that will change :) I REALLY don't want to drive there. So we will have class M-W and then lab for fundamentals on Th or Friday or maybe both sometimes? Do they have any open lab time for extra practice? Is the nanotex hot? Is it less wrinkly?

Which uniform material are you guys going to get? poplin or nanotex?

Jeff State Spring 2013 Hopefuls
During orientation at Shelby they mentioned that in a later semester we would have clinicals in Anniston? Does anybody know what those would be for? Thanks.

So they take our photo for our ID badge at orientation? Do you remember what the paperwork is for?

How long is orientation? Will they fit us for uniforms then? Do we need to have money on that day?
