Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.
With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?
Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.
Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)
Hi All! Class of 2015 checking in here. I have a mini orientation on June 5th, so I should get more info on scrubs, schedule, etc. I have heard that our scrubs will be navy blue top & bottom. The actual orientation is at the end of August. I haven't purchased anything yet; I wanted to wait until the mini orientation to find out what was required. I still need to do my health assessement. Having no health insurance means I have to save the money first before I go see my doctor (can you believe that??). I need to renew my CPR card, and I have been reading ahead, especially on fluids and electrolytes! Anyway, I know we are all nervous and excited to start on this amazing path, and I can't wait for two years from now when we are posting about our pinning ceremony in this same thread! Good luck girls and boys!!
I find it so amazing how every nursing program has different requirements and all. Like someone said their drug test is 150 holy smokes. Mine is 66. Good luck with working full time and the nursing program. I heard it has and can be done (but of course isn't easy). Love to see that this thread is growing :)
I have 5 kids, so I have to work and go to school. I know lots of students who worked part or full time. It's being able to manage your time to get studying in :)
I have to give mad props to all you who manage family, school, AND work. I know we all do what we have to do but I just don't think I could handle working & NS on top of my four kiddos.
Kudos!
My hats off to all of you with lots of kids! I have 1 son, who is a teenager and pretty self-sufficient. He's a great kid. My biggest worry is getting him to hockey practice when I might have clinicals around the same time. Luckily, he'll be able to drive by next year :)
I don't know if your school does this or not, but ours publishes a list of students who were accepted into the program and it's listed by the last 4 digits of your student ID. I keep looking at the list to see my number on it...LOL It's like I can't believe it's actually on there!
The uniform store called me yesterday and my scrubs arrived. So, I picked them up and they're hanging up, all ready to go on my 1st day of school. I love looking at the word "Nursing" embroidered beneath my school's logo! My stethoscope is in its box, ready to be used. I just wish it was finally August!!!
My summer classes start up on June 6th, so that should help the time go by faster. I'm working on courses towards the BSN while I'm waiting to start the ADN program. If I keep taking classes each summer, I'll only need to complete 8 courses for the BSN once I'm done with the ADN. So, I'll be class of 2015 for the ADN and class of 2016 for the BSN :)
I just found out this past week that I was accepted into out ADN program starting this upcoming fall. I just started last fall for my general courses. I didnt think I would be accepted since it is so competitive and I still lack a few general courses, but God had a plan(:
I have three small children (4&under). Thankfully I have a wonderful husband willing to sacrifice so that I can pursue my dream!
I register this week, and will be fitted for my uniform. Before august I have to have a tb skin test, drug test, and CPR certification. I don't know much more and probably won't until I register. I am very excited AND nervous! Yay for c/o 2015!!!

Congratulations!!! And welcome to "the club"
Hello everyone! I'll be starting my ADN program in September! Our orientation is August 2nd so I don't have any information on that yet! Does anyone know what we should wear to orientation? I know, silly question but I wouldn't want to show up in jeans and a tshirt and be out of place.
As far as supplies we will have black tops and bottoms with a orange OSU patch on the tops, a black lab coat, white leather shoes, a iPad, a watch and stethoscope. Then we have to have a drug test, background check, CPR certification, and a physical. And of coorifice books lol.
Good luck to everyone!!
Congratulations to all!
I have been accepted to the Cuesta College RN (ADN) program in San Luis Obispo, California, and will graduate in May 2015....Any others out there who will be starting at Cuesta this fall, too? I'd love to hear from you! :)
My orientation is next month. I currently work in surgical services at a regional healthcare facility as a surgery scheduler.
I am really looking forward to starting nursing school in August!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Christine :)
Hello class of 2015!
I have been accepted to an ADN program and I am nervous yet equally excited. Orientation is in Aug, a couple of weeks before class starts. I've applied for a few scholarships and grants and am hoping for the best.
I am happy that I've gotten over this hurdle of getting into a nursing school and look forward to what lies ahead...good luck to us all and hang in there for the long nights that await... (My coffee pot will be my new BFF)
