We have about the same as far as first semester classes - fundamentals of nursing, pharmacology I, & med-surg with clinicals on Thur & Fri. There are about 15 books & amazon has them for a total cost of around $700ish. I have a hospital sponsorship that pays my tuition & $2000 towards books for the entire 2 year program. I'm hoping that by using Amazon & some e-text book options for the iPad I can get by without having to dig deeper into my pockets. I am definitely investing in a rolling backpack!- Class of 2015
Hi Christine. Congratulations on your program!! I'm not too far away in Bakersfield & love SLO. I head over there every chance I get & would love to relocate in the area after I finish my ADN. Good luck to you! :-) Sarah- Class of 2015
I have to give mad props to all you who manage family, school, AND work. I know we all do what we have to do but I just don't think I could handle working & NS on top of my four kiddos. Kudos!- Class of 2015
My college has an academic forgiveness policy that removes, on request, less then desirable grades that are older than 5 years from the students cumulative GPA. I had a similar situation of going back to college after an 11 year hiatus & that policy helped raise my GPA. Perhaps there is something like that you may be able to take advantage of. There are so many paths to take on a journey & I have no doubt that you will reach your goal. Good luck with your program!! :-)- Class of 2015
Hi all! I'm a 2015 ADN student too. :-) My official orientation is in Aug, about 2 weeks before the semester starts. We did have an intake meeting this week - talk about a ton of "to do" items before Aug but this future RN isn't complaining - feeling blessed to have a seat. We wear red tops & black pants (awesome!), 15 books to buy along with ATI CARP, clinical kit, and on & on the list goes. I know there is a thread about shoes already but what are your thoughts about shoes while first starting out? Are you jumping feet first :-) into premium $$ shoes? or starting off with just the basic "meet requirement" type? Wishing everyone much success!!- Enter your TEAS V Scores here!!

Took an online practice test first to get a good idea of the areas I needed the most help in then used the manual and my course notes from chem and A&P to fill in the gaps. All in all, it worked out well. - Class of 2015
