Class of 2015

Published

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

I haven't got added yet either but I'm sure there are a lot of people messaging her about it lol.

That's awesome! Good for you, I know you are excited to get registered! Do you guys use Blackboard?

No, we use D2L, which is awful since it was "upgraded" :(

Class of 2015!! Start diploma program @ a hospital in August! Two kids.. Ages 4 and 10.. Excited!

Congrats everyone! Let's hear it for class of 2015! I have been accepted into an ADN program for the Fall 2013, but we were given the option to take one of our first semester courses, Basic Nursing Skills, this summer. So I start that class on July 1 and it's 6 wks...so excited! Good luck to everyone!

What is the name of the Facebook page?

What is the name of the Facebook page?

Jazmin PM MommaTy on here on allnurses and she will add you to the facebook page. I can't remember exactly what she called it, something like allnurses class of 2015 but I am not sure.

Just got my physical done today. All I have left is the background check. My printer is currently out of ink, so I have no way to print it out at home. I'm going to go over to the school tomorrow and print it out in the computer lab and then run all of my paperwork over to the Nursing school office, so I'll be completely done with all the administrative steps.

Registration for fall is on Tuesday! Can't wait to sign up for my 1st "real" nursing class and proudly wear my scrubs on our first day :D

Hi Kris, I also did my physical yesterday:) picked up my scrubs on Tuesday, can't stop looking at them :roflmao: I still need to do my background check and print them out. Going for my 2nd MMR on Tuesday, planning on dropping everything off by Friday:) hope all is well with you!

Hey, Evan! I just dropped off all my forms at the HHS building today. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Done! YAY!!! I know what you mean about the scrubs....I keep looking at those pretty, bright blue scrubs that say "Nursing" on them :D :D :D

Hope you're having a great summer! Did you see they put our registration CRN up on the Accepted Student website?

As far as schedules go, my first term is Nursing Foundations theory & clinical (with a focus on community health) MTWF, and Microbiology. My Micro course is online in order to avoid any schedule conflict this fall (yup... a toughy). Oh, & hunter green is our uniform color... awesome! :D

Hi Everyone

I had my orientation yesterday for my ADN program here in NC. Overwhelmed for sure but extremely excited. I check FB more often than here since most of my family is out of state so I'd love to get added to the page when somene gets a chance. My classes begin on August 19th. Yesterday I ordered the scrubs and found out the books for the whole program are $1470, yikes! Our background check and drug test were much cheaper it seems though at only $86.00. I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone. Oh, and our scrubs are all white (tops, bottoms, coats- everything....). My first clinical is already assigned at a hospital in the next city over from mine (nervous). I have two boys 4 and 5 and a supportive husband (for now, until reality hits, lol).

If you have the ISBN numbers on your books you can save ALOT of money going through Amazon or Half.com

I second this! I also used eBay. We had a bundle of three books for our Foundations class that was going for $220+ at the bookstore, and I managed to cut it down to $170 for the three together by using eBay, Half, and Amazon. Granted, that doesn't take away the fact I spent $450 on all of my semester's books (hey, I saved $200+ by not going to the bookstore!) You'd be surprised the amount people are willing to sell their books for just to get rid of them!
