Class of 2015

Published

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

Hey everyone!

I started the nursing program at Rasmussen and getting ready to start my 2nd quarter (Microbiology and A&P). I won't start clinicals until January :( Graduate in March 2015

I got my acceptance letter yesterday to one of the programs I applied to! I'll get an email about the other one tomorrow. Either way, I'm got into a program and I cannot wait!

That's awesome, I was happy to see that! Did you find the class of 2015 on facebook?

Can someone add me to the FB group?

The OP on this thread started it, she can add you, PM her.

Was supposed to finish my ASN in Dec of '14 but I broke my leg in Feb and it put me back a semester, so I will hopefully be graduating in May of '15. Can't wait! I've already been thru my first semester, so... buckle down ladies and gents, you're in for a crazy, fun ride!!

I'm so sorry that happened to you, but I'm glad that you will be able to graduate only one semester later than you had originally planned...I am also glad to see that you haven't lost your drive to finish!!!

You're not the only one who's told me that its gonna be a crazy ride. The other day I was talking with an RN who just graduated in May from the ADN program I'm starting this fall (she got hired at the LTC facility I work at), and she told me that the first few weeks of the program I will be wondering what I got myself into and how I am ever going to make it through the next four semesters!! Still very excited about starting though and very anxious for classes to start in August. God has had His hand in my entire journey here, and I know that this is where He wants me right now!

I'm getting so excited! Yes, I'm a dork. I picked up my first giant binder and it has flowers on it, and I spent today organizing my binder with tabs and paper, got all my highlighters all lined up, got my multi-ink color pen and my post-it flags. My desk is ready, my work space is almost completely ready, after I hang some peaceful pictures. You know, so I don't go crazy in there. :wacky: Next week is immunizations  And a visit to the scrub shop for uniforms, and a shoe store for acceptable shoes. Only 57 days til class starts!!! :nailbiting:

Lol I can't wait till I'm in your spot :) I am a dork too! I just applied June 1st (won't hear back till October for spring) and I can't go one day without getting on all nurses, or YouTube or checking my schools website...or occasionally driving by the hospital where my clinicals & nursing classes will be at...don't believe you're #1 dork anymore! Lol I'm ridiculous..I want this so bad & it's only almost the 1st of July. Fall semester starts August 19, so once that starts I'll be so wrapped up in classes that I won't have time to sit around & go crazy about whether I get in or not. I even emailed my nursing advisor telling him I'm freaking out lol & he emailed me the last 3 years of the lowest gpa that was admitted for every semester & mine is higher than the last 3 spring semesters so he told me not to worry, but still!! Lol good luck to you!

I tell you, I've never seen such a group of obsessed people as nursing students (myself included!) when it comes to wanting information NOW! I hope you get great news! We'll be here for you to celebrate!

I am glad to see I'm not the only one freaking out! I just turned 19 on June 17th and I'm a guy, so I'm really going to stick out in my cohort. I get along well with anybody so I'm not worried about that, and I have my CNA so I don't think first semester will be too foreign to me, but the anxiety of starting is just killing me. My cousin just graduated the program this May, and I have been asking her questions like crazy. I asked her what I should do to prepare for first semester, and she told me to ask my doctor for a Xanax prescription. Haha!

By the way, why are some of y'all's orientations happening so soon? I got my acceptance letter in April, and our orientation isn't until mid-August, like a week before the semester begins. Perhaps some of y'all's programs begin in the summer, but if not.. why are the orientations for the fall semester happening in the summer? Seems like it could be easy to forget what was learnt during the orientation.

This is so neat!!! I wish we had a thread like this!! I am class of 14!!! Good luck to all of y'all, and I know exactly how you feel!! I still have anticipation for every new semester I go into!
