Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.
With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?
Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.
Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)
Class of 2015!!!!! I begin the ADN program in late August and I am so excited! Our uniform is all white (Hate it, But,I will make it work). I have already ordered my tops and lab coats. I just completed my immunizations and Varicella titer. Just have to get a 2 step PPD now. Background check/drug screen were a little over 80.00. Unfortunately, I will be paying for this all out of pocket this semester, so I will be trying to buy used books. I still have to buy a tablet and am at a lost on which one to go with. Congrats to you all!! Cant wait until we are all posting about sitting for NCLEX RN!!! Best wishes
I registered for my lecture classes last week:
Essentials of nursing practice
Health assessment
The role of the professional nurse
Nursing in the community
I have to wait until orientation in august to register for my clinicals and labs since those are assigned to us.
I also second the notion of buying used textbooks online versus the school bookstore. I'd also advise to check out Craigslist! I found someone that sold me the apa guide, Davis drug guide, tabers & lab/ diagnostics as a bundle for $25! (they cost well over $130 USED) which helps a lot!
And YES to my previous post SNA at my school in particular is a great organization that is really involved and will look good on a resume. I also joined a committee which I'm excited about as well!

I agree! Instead of $1,500 for all my books (19 of them
) I was able to get them all for $756.
