Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.
With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?
Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.
Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)
Hey! I just got accepted into a BSN program for fall 2013.I Am so excited I read my acceptance letter like 20 times lol. My orientation isn't until August. During orientation we will be given a dosage calculation class, and then tested on it. We get two attempts to get at least 95%, inorder to begin clinicals. I am just so excited!!! Congrats to everyone who made it. The hard part now begins! Game faces on!!

My orientation isn't until a week before classes begin, but we already know what our uniform is. It's black pants/white tops with the school insignia patch sewn onto the top. My drug test/background check was $98.00, and I can't remember exactly, but I think the 'clinical supply bag' (which includes IV lines, ng tubes, etc) was like $160.00. My uniform, stethoscope, pen-light, blood pressure cuff, and scissors cost around $300 total. We won't know what books we need until mid-July, but I am predicting they will cost around $1,000 total. However, a lot of the books are used in 2nd semester too, so this isn't too bad.
We can sit for the NCLEX-LPN after 2nd semester, but I don't think I will do that.
Congrats to everybody!! I am still waiting to get accepted into a BSN program. But I have a feeling that I will get in :) They accept around 100 ppl for my program. I am already so excited. I just finished taking patho, and it was hard, but I learned a lot and managed to get an A and now I am taking foundations of nursing practice. I did get accepted into an ADN program 2 years ago, but then I had to withdraw and move in my first semester, because my husband received army orders. Now I am finally at the point where I finished prereqs again and will be able to actually start the nursing program. My nursing school has a dark blue uniform with orange on the sides and as details. The good thing is I kept all my old nursing books, which will give me additional information for care plans etc.
Just got all my vaccines yesterday. There was no way I could get a titer done in time, so I ended up having to start the varicella as well. I'll get my final one a month from now. Just trying to find a doc that can squeeze me in for a physical. Every place I've called says they can't get me in until mid-July. I've gotta have my paperwork done by July 1st.
