Class of 2015

Published

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

Class of 2015 here!

BSN - starting the program this fall after completing all pre-reqs and being accepted!

Single mom of 4 kiddos, ages 3-(almost) 11. I work full time at the hospital in the ward I plan to work one when I graduate, Oncology. I *LOVE* it! My manager has already told me I have a job when I graduate :)

Our orientation was earlier this month. We wear navy blue scrubs, white shoes, white lab coat. We wear our scrubs to class on campus and to clinicals, which is new to this semester.

I'm SO excited! I'm turning 36 next month and can't wait to get my second career moving!

Congrats to all, I begin at the end of August. What are you guys doing ahead of time to prepare for the 1st semester? I don't have my open house/orientation until July 31st and was wondering what types of supplies/equip were needed.

I am reading every comment on here! So nice to have found this thread! Congrats to all of you! I received my acceptance letter to the ADN program at our local college and I cried like a baby, because it was my third try to get in the program! I just plucked away at the pre reqs and the co reqs, got my "meh" GPA up to a 4.0 and finally, it was my time. I'm a late in life career changer at age 49 but that doesn't bother me, because in A & P I and II I got along great w/ the younger girls and kept em laughing! I am so excited to get MOVING in this process. Our school has a three stage application acceptance thing they are doing this year, which means that they have three waves of applications to wade through to fill the slots available. That means that we get NO info on orientation, no paperwork to get done like medical and dental, no package code for the background check/document tracker/immunization tracker...... We are totally in the dark and school starts on August 26! EEEK! No idea what books to get...... but I am shocked at how many books everyone is saying we need! NINETEEN BOOKS?????? OMG

Kpetit I wrote a list down that I found: Rolling backpack, small pocket sized notebook, clinical bag, RN notes clinical pocket guide (Amazon),Mosby's pharmacology note cards (Amazon) Littman steth or ADC cardiology convertible steth, Mini tape recorder, clipboard, TEDs support stockings for under your socks, Nurse kit with scissors, pen light (LED lasts longer), forceps, ruler, watch with second hand. Small calculator, multicolor pen, planner, planner, PLANNER..... and great shoes.

Hello, I start my ADN program July 8 and my orientation is on June 20. So far I haven't heard anything from my school as far as immunization records or what we need to buy but I'm really excited!

Just ordered my uniforms and name pin yesterday :) $130.00 and that was with the 10% discount. So excited. I also emailed my nursing program because I noticed they never told us about what supplied for nursing that we need like the stethoscope, scissors, pen light, b/p cuff. She told me it was all included and we will get them at the school. YAY, couple less things I don't have to worry about getting. I will be buying a clipboard though. I will also be getting a printer, I have one I'm kind of eye balling Amazon.com: Epson WorkForce 545 Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax, iOS/Tablet/Smartphone/AirPrint Compatible (C11CB88201): Electronics

lots of paper, lots of ink. That's all for now.

I have that clipboard, love it!
