Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.
With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?
Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.
Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)
Hello all!
In march I received my acceptance letter, and I start BSN school in August at a private non-profit school with an excellent school of nursing. We've already had our info session where they gave us our paperwork (physical, background check, fingerprint, immunizations, books, lab uniform etc). Orientation is August 26th, an all day event. Kind of scary that orientation day is when we will know the days/times of our labs (for planning purposes), and our clinicals start in October. I'm in the middle of fulfilling my requirements; all I have left is a physical and 2-step ppd test
I started my first semester at my school to take pathophys and a couple other degree requirements outside the school of nursing.
I have a 5 year old son, and I haven't decided what I'm doing with him, as he is old enough for kindergarten but he has never been in preschool. He is reading at end of kindergarten level and is just a smart kid. If I put him in a half day kindergarten, I know no one who can pick him up since he would get out while I'm still in class. If he goes full day, then I still have the same problem and he'd probably have to be in an afterschool program. That's a whole other list of concerns for me.
my husband is very much on board, supportive, and proud of what I'm doing for our family
I am beyond thrilled to start school, and it's been a long time coming. Let's do this Class of 2015!!!
I would like that Jenjer! How much is it? I found one in town that does it for $51 but if the other place is cheaper ill go there lol Henyetta isn't far from me. I do too, I hate waiting! And I want the list of books we need lol
They didn't say how much it would be. She just asked if I had insurance so I'm hoping it will be just a regular co-pay. I go Thursday so I can let you know then. Their number is 918-652-9614. Address is 1102 w. If you want to add me as a friend and maybe we could meet up for lunch or something before school starts so we will at least know someone on the first day! Lol
YAY for all of us! I'm class of 2015 as well. ADN program here starting on Aug 15th. Our orientation is on June 19th from 9a-3p. I can't believe it's a 6 hour orientation!! Yowzers... Anyway plans for BSN after ADN and then hopefully CRNA. Fingers crossed...That being said, I believe I have to have a year of ICU nursing under my belt before I apply for the CRNA program, so I think that will be my goal - to work as an ICU nurse while finishing up my BSN. I LOVE the OR - so we will see!
My husband is amazing and very supportive. I have two kiddos (6 & 4) that I have homeschooled til now, but have enrolled them in public school for Fall. I think that is what I'm most nervous about, but I'm sure it will be fine.
All I know so far is that our uniforms are white tops and charcoal pants. (YES!!) We need the obvious, steth, pen light, watch w/ second hand, etc. The letter stated that the bookstore will have some of our stuff bundled to save us $$ but we'll see. I need to save every penny I can. We had to move from GA to NC for me to go to school so I will have to pay out of state tuition for the first year. Boo! Still not terrible considering it's a community college. But every penny will count as I have had to quit my job.
We will all be fine! So excited to get started and for orientation so I can know more! I'm so detail oriented and I'm dying not having the details! haha
Hello all class of 2015 nursing students. I will start a facebook page, but I need people to add me before I can start it. Look me up at socomgirl413 tell me you are from allnurses (it's okay if you post the message to the other mailbox, I will check it).
Okay, can't wait to get this started :)
Wow this thread is huge!
I start nursing classes for my BSN in August - orientation is 8/22. I still have have one last vaccine this month and submit my paperwork as the final step in the approval process.
I have two kiddoes - 8 and almost 7 - and we're getting ready to move 40 mins close to campus to hopefully make life easier on all of us!
I'd like to join the FB group but I'd rather not put my name on this *public* board - can we just have the link to join?

I watched the videos that were associated with that printer, super fast! I loved that someone made their own video to show how fast it is.
