  1. I PM'd you, the name was on here but it was deleted for terms of service. It's a nice way of instantly communicating if we have a question or need clarification on something
  2. I think on the ATI website if you pretend to register for Aurora's TEAS V it says that the test is only for those intending to apply to Aurora. Definitely check with your school to see where you are allowed to test. Since I was applying to Aurora, I could only test at Aurora.
  3. Hello all! In march I received my acceptance letter, and I start BSN school in August at a private non-profit school with an excellent school of nursing. We've already had our info session where they gave us our paperwork (physical, background check, fingerprint, immunizations, books, lab uniform etc). Orientation is August 26th, an all day event. Kind of scary that orientation day is when we will know the days/times of our labs (for planning purposes), and our clinicals start in October. I'm in the middle of fulfilling my requirements; all I have left is a physical and 2-step ppd test I started my first semester at my school to take pathophys and a couple other degree requirements outside the school of nursing. I have a 5 year old son, and I haven't decided what I'm doing with him, as he is old enough for kindergarten but he has never been in preschool. He is reading at end of kindergarten level and is just a smart kid. If I put him in a half day kindergarten, I know no one who can pick him up since he would get out while I'm still in class. If he goes full day, then I still have the same problem and he'd probably have to be in an afterschool program. That's a whole other list of concerns for me. my husband is very much on board, supportive, and proud of what I'm doing for our family I am beyond thrilled to start school, and it's been a long time coming. Let's do this Class of 2015!!!
  4. In order for your transcripts to be evaluated you have to accept admission. It doesn't really mean anything. And what is really annoying is that they have mandatory orientation sessions for first year students and transfers. $75 and the first one occurs in April right before letters go out. I almost paid for one (since the next orientation isn't til July and you can't register til you go through orientation).
  5. On another note, make sure you meet with someone face to face or speak to someone from the school you intend to attend. Also, visit the school. My presumptions of the class requirements for AU were based on what I was told at Waubonsee cc which was somewhat incorrect. I didn't have to take a chem class, though I had to take upper level classes other than the nursing classes which I did not know. And patho is not required before you are accepted. It can be a pre-req OR a co-req. off topic but hopefully helpful
  6. Hello Meg1992! I applied for the fall of 2012. Those with the best application qualifications who are admitted get to start in the fall, and everyone else starts in the spring (which I did not know). Those who are NIU students are considered first and find out first. Letters for transfers do not go out til late april (I got my letter April 18 of last year) and it makes the wait really grueling. I was waitlisted for Spring of 2013. I sent in my desire to stay on the waitlist and you are never informed of your place. I moped about being waitlisted and then applied to Aurora University. I contacted NIU after months of not hearing anything and was told I was #3 on the waitlist. I was also told to re-apply (which means starting a new application to be admitted to NIU all over again). I did that but never heard from them, and I could not try again for fall 2013 as my core science classes time requirment would be expiring for NIU. I really wanted to got to NIU for the cost. But it is very competitive. The average gpa to be admitted is 3.4/3.5ish, and that may even be on the low end. It also changes year to year. My gpa was 3.1 according to NIU and I scored high on the accuplacer but I do not remember my score. Over 1,000 people applied and only 140 transfers are admitted for both semesters. I found out last monday that I've been accepted to AU's program and I'm so happy that a full year later I finally get to start nursing school. I think you should be able to get in with your stats. Best of luck to you!
  7. The only teacher I know that's teaching patho over the summer is one I have right now for a health professions seminar class. (******) if you're looking at the summer sched)He can be rigorous with A&P (so I heard) but I'm not sure how he is in patho since it's really not about memorization. I can't speak for cell bio since I took the equivalent of that at waubonsee. 1st time students have to have an advising appointment in order to register and also to go over your plan to make sure you're taking all the classes you need. The advisor will also help you navigate the WebAdvisor system that you will use for the rest of your time at AU. Once you're matriculated, as they call it, you can register for classes by yourself for the next semester
  8. well, patho isn't that hard...as long as you are keeping up with your physiology. Basically the first 4 weeks are kind of tough just because a lot of it is review and examining the ways that the body reacts to an altered state of health. There is also a lot of new terms to learn, but they will be easy to remember because of the context and frequency of use. After that, then it is pretty easy to build on that knowledge base. For me, patho is really helping make more sense of normal physiology. Right now we're doing cardio stuff and I find that pretty challenging but youtube is always helpful-it's what I plan on doing to help review anything I'm not clear on I highly recommend taking patho the semester prior, because I started reading a fundamentals of nursing textbook (not sure if it's the one we will use but it's a well known book by Taylor et. al) and it already bombards you with lots of patho terms that I just learned this semester so yea, I'm glad I'm taking it now.
  9. yes gyl! I'm sure we'll all be sharing our news :)
  10. My hands are shaking, I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED!!! whoohoooo just opened my letter and danced with my son :)
  11. Congrats Friskee! Looks like the transfers are getting calls. I'll be waiting for my letter!
  12. Congrats on getting in!
  13. well, I'm just going to assume we don't have the same advisor lol I haven't heard anything.
  14. wow! congratulations! I hope I get a call too! Was it a call from the academic advisor or someone from the school of nursing?
