we went in on thursday for an orientation for school. we were fitted for our clinical uniform. i was pleasantly surprised. our uniforms are a ceil blue scrub that has our school emblem patch! looks just like any other set of scrubs just with a patch! i was happy!! no polos, no button up top, no dress pant type pants..etc!! the only thing i don't like is these scrubs are made huge! people who normally wore a large in any other scrub were in mediums (and even then the were still a bit big) and they are loooonnnnggg! being under 5ft tall, most any pants are long but these were really long. but hey, i can have them hemmed (made friends with the lady who owns a uniform shop in my town and she told me she'd hem them for free for me..as it is, she gives a nice discount to the students in my school!) so we have the ceil blue scrub top with normal scrub bottoms and a lab coat..all in the ceil blue.

so, do you love your clinical uniform or hate it..and why?

We can wear whatever we want- so I love it! :p LOL

Really??? I've never heard of a nursing program that didn't require a standard uniform for their students. I wanna go where you go!

Really? What type of program? Is it hospital or college based?

I'm a believer in uniforms for schools...across the board (meaning for children). I actually would be uncomfortable wearing whatever I wanted. I'm surprised that's done.

When you say whatever you want...does that mean scrubs or does that really mean anything?

Yeah, I'm surprised by that, too. We did get some choice (i.e. we could choose a navy polo or a white polo, we could get the flare-leg cargo pants or the unisex elastic-waist pants or drawstring pants, we could choose whether or not to get a lab coat), but those are still pretty limited parameters.

We can wear any scrubs that are solid white. White is NOT a sliming color, but at least we get to chose the style.

We are required to have a lab coat. We have a skills lab and must have a lab coat to go in. They do have extras down there in case you forget. We also must wear a lab coat when we go to the floor for clinical prep the night before clinicals. So we need the lab coat.

We have to wear navy scrub pants and white scrub tops, and we have to put a patch with our school name on the left shoulder. Beyond that, we are free to choose our own pant style/size/etc. I am a big fan of my flared scrub pants and plan to keep them after I graduate. Not so fond of the white shirts, though. Too hard to keep clean.

I love scrubs, though. It's like wearing pajamas to work. I told my husband that I want to buy a couple of extra pairs of scrub pants to wear on weekends. I don't think he understands that I was serious.

your scrub uniform sounds pretty.

i hate ours. we have two. one set is to wear at school. its okay. it's sort of a dark teal with white embroidery that says our school name. then what we wear to clinical i can't stand. it is white. white pants and a white top with a light teal trim. it zips up the front and our school patch goes on the left sleeve. i think it looks dumb. i love color! :monkeydance:

Awful!!! All white

Yeah ours are pretty nice. And it will even look good on the guys we have..its a vry unisex scrub..which is why I think they run so large

And that should have cLinical..not cinical :lol2:

I am in an ADN program at a CC. The LPN's have specific scrub tops with logos, but we can wear whatever scrubs we want, as long as there aren't caricatures and things like that. I guess it isn't " whatever we want", but colored scrubs and whatnot. They want us to have scrubs that we can wear when we are finished, instead of buying stuff we will never wear again.

Our class attire is any color scrub we want. Tops can be solid or print, have those cute characters etc. I went the practical route and got "neutral" colors for my classroom scrubs. I got the ciel blue, navy blue, greens, (normal scrub colors..no hot pinks, peaches etc). I did this for one reason..I am tight with my money. I figure if a place I might work at has a "color" scrub to wear..its normally not the bright purples, oranges etc. With "neutral" colors I have a good chance of being able to use them again.

But for the price I paid for them, if I still have them after my schooling is done..they'll probably need to be replaced anyway. I got them as cheap as I could.

I love our royal blue uniforms, but I can't stand our white uniforms. They are see-through and made out of some rough material that scratches you all up. I have not wore my white one at all in the past 2 years.

After I graduate I will let someone make a teddy bear out of my uniforms (parts of them). I will just keep it as a memory.

My clinical uniform SUCKS! It's the white on white/horrible loose scrub pants, white shoes, white zip top, vest with buttons/lab coat for overneath....and that sucker's HOT!! Last semester, I was told I couldn't wear an undershirt if it showed through, this semester, I just found out I could have....8 weeks into the semester, of course!
