Cinical uniform..love it or hate it?

we went in on thursday for an orientation for school. we were fitted for our clinical uniform. i was pleasantly surprised. our uniforms are a ceil blue scrub that has our school emblem patch! looks just like any other set of scrubs just with a patch! i was happy!! no polos, no button up top, no dress pant type pants..etc!! the only thing i don't like is these scrubs are made huge! people who normally wore a large in any other scrub were in mediums (and even then the were still a bit big) and they are loooonnnnggg! being under 5ft tall, most any pants are long but these were really long. but hey, i can have them hemmed (made friends with the lady who owns a uniform shop in my town and she told me she'd hem them for free for me..as it is, she gives a nice discount to the students in my school!) so we have the ceil blue scrub top with normal scrub bottoms and a lab coat..all in the ceil blue.

so, do you love your clinical uniform or hate it..and why?

The nice thing about all white scrubs is that you can bleach them and they're good as new. :) That is until you over bleach them and they adopt that oh so lovely yellowish tinge..

My program had all navy blue scrubs that were ridiculously heavy. I've been wearing scrubs for a lot of years and I never got warm, I was always freezing. Not so with these ones though, I walk into patients room and within thirty seconds of starting my head to toe assessment I'm stripping off the labcoat..eesh. They also have a way of collecting ever piece of lint known to man..this is not so good when you have two golden retrievers. ;)

ours are hideous!!! i can't wait to throw them in the bonfire when i graduate in 9 weeks!! we have to purchase our own white scrub pants and plain white polo top. then we also have to wear these ugly white vests that are huge with our school patch and id tag. whenever we're off the floor we also have to wear our white lab coats that also have our school patch on the arm. yuck!

I love ours. We have white pants (or skirt), a white lab coat that says "Franciscan University Nursing Student" on the right breast, and a green polo shirt with the same words. We've been called the "green team" and "the little baby franciscans"....

It's rather fun! I've been mistaken for a nurse or doctor before. I look really professional in my uniform!:nurse:

I hate ours. They're 100% all white everywhere. I almost have to tag on a bunch of accessories just to bring out some color in the thing, and I'm a guy who doesn't care about that stuff!!! That's how bad they are ;)..

They're from dove.com, if anyone else uses those. I guess it could be worse, but I'd rather wear scrubs. More comfortable and that's what most nurses actually wear anyway, not all white button-up shirts and white pants.. ugh..

I think after graduation I might throw mine in a bon fire to celebrate!!

The zip top for guys is similar to what the guys where in the program I go to. As much as I don't mind my uniform I do feel sorry for the guys. They say they look like Good Humor men...and they do.

I have to wear these pants in white...

We have a patch on one arm and a ribbon going around the bottom on the sleeves.

Again very traditional and I do like it. I really wouldn't want to wear regular scrubs. I would be okay with a polo but I really like the idea of the traditional uniform. I am also a fan of the cap (not for work but graduation)...and no I'm not ancient. I just think it's very professional and says a lot.

Our uniforms are all white. Button down white top with a collar, white pants, white shoes and white socks. Ugggggllliest and most unflattering things ever. The only non white thing is the red embroidery on our patch on the arm. Did I mention they are ugly!?! I feel like a bloated marshmallow on my good days.

Our community clinical uniforms are just red polo shirts (with our logo on them), khaki pants, and any kind of brown or black shoes/sneakers.

hate it, gonna burn it after I graduate!!!!! Along with my care plans!!! We wear white and we look like a gaggle of geese walking into the hospital. They appear dirty, especially if bleach is used to wash them--makes them yellow. I think a person who is very sick needs decreased stimulation, and White from head to toe can be intimidating!I think a subdued color (no crazy patterns) and a badge clearly stating who you are is good enough. And of course stating who you are and what your rank is, can help the patient feel more comfortable. I had patients ask me if I was the doctor because of my white uniform. Patients know that times have changed and that nurses are not looking like the typical soap opera nurses from days gone by.

Oooh...(sorry - this is the second of your posts I've responded to - nothing personal!) NOT THE CARE PLANS!!!

I say this because the advice I've gotten recently has been to keep any good care plans you've done, as part of your student portfolio. This and any good research work you've done.

Just wishing I'd gotten this advice a year ago, before tragically losing a hard drive (and thus some real "keepers") last summer.

But yeah, burn the student threads. Mine's fugly as sin and bound for incineration ASIG...

(Happy 50th post to me!!:balloons: )

I am starting an excellerated program in May but can wear white scrubs (it's up to us where we get them - uniform shop, internet, etc) with a patch on the left arm, and a white lab coat, also with a patch. They told us to buy 2 uniforms, 3 at the most as we will get tired of the white very soon. We also need white shoes with closed toe and heel (can be a tennis like shoe) and white socks. Women can also wear a dress if they like instead of the scrubs. The white is not exciting, but I'm more into comfort so it's fine.

Our student uniforms are ugly. All white, front-seamed pants. White tops that button top to bottom in the BACK. Green patch on front with school emblem.
