WEllllll has anyone heard anything? I got my acceptance letter on tuesday butttttt..I really don't think I'll be going as a I put down my deposit somewhere else..I don't know yet for sure though..it depends a lot on financial aid

DEFINITELY go to your local health department if you need to have titers drawn..mine saved me a small fortune last year as my health insurance wouldn't pay for titers and I was required to have them..some of my classmates paid several hundred $$, but thankfully, everything was free at the health department..WHEW!!

...I agree with everyone else who says that it depends on the program. You may want to call and ask them what is considered competitive, for this year. Depending on the applicant pool, it can change drastically from year to year. I was accepted into a private school two weeks ago that had 500 applicants and 20 spots. My GPA was a 3.51, coming from a 4 year school, with some nursing credits already in there. I know, a 3.51..that's not all that impressive..I can't speak for ADN programs, but I do know that BSN programs put a lot of emphasis on other factors as well. EXPERIENCE is huge. One of my friends from my program was rejected in 2005, having little to no experience and a 3.7 from a BigTen school. She took the next year off to work as a CNA and was accepted for 2006. I have a lot of both paid and volunteer experience, and I really sold that in the essay.. (it also never hurts to put something in your essay about continuing on to become a nurse educator sometime in the future) I guess my point of this message is to just say relax! GPA is important, but it is by no means everything. You will get in to the right school, for you. :)

Hey Jewels.. :) Well, I can't speak for all programs but I know that mine didn't have saturday clinicals at all, not even for graduate programs. They were all during the week (some pretty undogly hours at times, lol) but not the weekends. However, they usually have absence policies, ours was that you could miss one day of clinical with no repercussion, but if you missed more you had to make it up. I was sick for a week and missed two clinicals, and one previously before that after I managed to contract pink eye from my patient the day before. I just had to go in on two days that my clinical instructor had other groups and make up the missed time. I did have to miss a lecture to be at one of the clinicals but..everything worked out in the end. Some clinical instructors can be real pains in the @ss..but, even they will be willing to work with you, most of the time. Long story short, I wouldn't worry about it too much!! Nikki

Hi there! Well..I actually just got my acceptance letter from Villanova this week. It IS expensive, but...let me tell you, my financial aid package is amazing. They have actually covered all costs for me...I'm still waiting to hear from Drexel..ANY day now. If I get in, I'm sure it will come down to financial assistance as to where I go.. As far as clincals go..they all pretty much use the same hospitals. I know Villanova requires students to get a mix of hospital exposure types, like at least one city, or one county, depending on your preference. As far as school name recognition..umm..you're going to be a nurse, you really won't need anymore help getting a job, and that's the truth! I transfered from the number three nursing school in the country and people back here on the east coast don't even know it exists.. Good luck!!

I have a pair of the all white dansko professionals. they were expensive but very much worth it. i have lower back problems due to a curve in my low thoracic spine but with these shoes, I feel no pain!

I'm still waiting on three..I've got one acceptance so far..but, it's more along the lines of my safety fall back program, but I did just get a 50% academic scholarship to that program, so that's nice. :) I should be getting one more this month, one mid april and the other (of course my top choice) in earlyish may. ugh! hang strong everyone! and congratulations to everyone who already got great news!! :)

I also applied as a transfer to the regular BSN program..the only thing that bothers me about NYU is they require everyone to submit high school transcripts..Umm..ew. The one admissions person that I spoke to though just said I need to submit them before I attempt to register for classes, so I'm thinking they place little/no bearing on acceptance. I've been out for what feels like forever, have 70 college credits..I don't see the point in HS grades at this point... Anywho, enough of that..when I spoke to her, she said that we probably won't find out until the beginning of May, end of April at the earliest, and that's even with priority consideration. It's just a bit nerve wracking because most of my other acceptance decisions will be due back to the colleges with a deposit by May 1st..NYU is my number one choice..but...I don't know what's going to happen..I HATE ADMISSIONS!! UGH!

This may sound a little bit odd..but..constipation. I had to teach five senior citizens about it during my community health clinical. We were assigned topics and at first I was really dreading it, but..in reality..it went REALLY well. I focused it primarily around diet options, ie lots of water, fiber etc..I typed up some recipies, made a shopping list.I also gave some background info on it, what actually classifies as being constipated, reasons (medications, inactivity, poor diet etc.)..it was actually pretty fun, they were very receptive and even asked questions. The fact is, several senior citizens suffer from it and they are just too embarassed to admit it or tell their healthcare team.. Good luck!

I can't even stalk the mailman for some of my decisions, because they come by email. I had myself convinced that my inbox was full of read messages so I deleted EVERYTHING..when I still didn't get anything, well..I might have stooped to the level of sending myself a test message from my other email address.. pathetic..I know..I'm just fortunate I'm not applying to business school like a few of my friends..the admissions people CALL them to let them know if they got in..eeeks. I probably wouldn't let anyone else answer the phone for 3 months...

The biggest problem with studying from older tests is the fact that SO many programs keep re-using the same tests, semester after semester, year after year. Most of my instructors won't even let us leave the room with an exam booklet, either accidentally or on purpose. If we somehow manage to get out of the room with it, we automatically fail the exam, which in most cases results in a grade below 70% for the course - resulting in a course failure. This can really mess up a nursing students curriculum..with such a planned out course schedule, failing one class can result in an extra year in school.

:) Hey everyone..I was just wondering if anyone applied as a transfer student to Drexels BSN Co-op Program for Fall 2007? I HOPE to hear in a few weeks (however sooner would be better!). I know that there are bunch of ACE students out there that already have their decsions and I'm JEALOUS of you all to say the very least! This is such a nerve wracking process..ugh, the game of admissions! I'm transferring back home to the east coast due to some health cirsumstances after a semester at UIC, it was amazing but..I just can't be 900 miles away right now..I can't wait to get back into a program! AHHHH!! Good luck to everyone still anticipating decisions and those already admitted and starting programs!!! Nikki :)

Tracy- I've applied to a few schools, but nothing else in the NY area, aside from Seton Hall. I'm looking at Drexel, LaSalle, Villanova and NYU..These programs are so competitive..eeeks.

Hi Tracy. :) I also applied as a transfer to the basic BSN program. I hate the whole application process, it's so frustrating! They're so secretive with their information, you need an act of congress to find out how many spots are available and what a competitive GPA is! I've heard anywhere from 2.8-3.4. ANNOYING! I don't expect to hear til early May..ugh..it's going to be a long few months! Where else did you apply?? Nikki
