CCAC Spring 2011

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Just wondering if anyone else on here has applied to CCAC for the spring 2011 semester?

Im not sure about the PAX scores for those admitted into the fast track program...but I have been hearing that new grads everywhere in Pittsburgh are unable to find jobs. Apparently 130 people applied for 1 job. With West Penn closing down and hospitals struggling...it seems kinda shakey. Maybe by the time we're done nursing school, the market will be less saturated?

If you search CCAC spring 2010, you may be able to figure out what scores got into the fast track program.

What kind of job did 130 ppl apply for? It seems strange with so many different paths you can pursue with nursing that so many people can't find work. Discouraging. A woman I know in Maryland who is pursuing her MSN said it's getting to the point where everyone needs a bachelors anymore, so that is my plan.

I am interested in woman's health, I hear it doesn't pay as much as other fields. Maybe that will work in my favor, hahaha.

Hello to everyone, I am in NRN 204 at Allegheny campus. I know that all of you applied already and the wait is torture. Try to relax and enjoy this time before you start school. I will tell you that when school starts you really don't have a life. 101 and 102 were pretty straight forward and fairly easy. When you get to 202 and 204 you have 16 hours of clinical a week with another 2 days for lecture and lab. Right now I work, go to school, and study. I am doing double time with studying though because I am also studying for the NCLEX. So enjoy this time, be with friends and family because when nursing starts you really need to focus. Also, I know some of you stated that you still need to take micro and A&P II. I took A&P II with NRN 101 and Micro in the summer. If you take Micro at Allegheny, Maxin has been teaching at CCAC since it opened 30 some years ago and he is really out of touch with current trends. I got in A in the class, but if you actually want to learn up to date information then I would suggest you avoid him, but if you take him, take him food like cupcakes or cake and you will get an a for sure. There were a couple of people in my class that did that and they failed the tests, but ended with an A. Good luck everyone.

I applied...has anyone heard back?

I haven't applied to CCAC....just taking my prereqs there to go elsewhere, but I know I someone in my A&P class was asking one of the instructors about it because of not being sure what to do for spring schedualing if the letter comes later then schedualing opens (which is 2 weeks). He was told it won't be until LATE Oct, and to just schedual what he would take if he didn't get in......then once he is accepted he can just drop those....that way he wont be screwed if he didn't get in, and classes he needs fill before he schedual.

Hello everyone! I also applied for ccacs program. Calu first choice, boyce second choice. I saw the same thing that no one heard anything last year until mid november :( I have no other classes to take, micro, a & p, statistics, etc. etc. all done i just know by mid november i'm going to have my work schedule already for January. They said sometime in October but i don't think thats going to happin... Hopefully we hear back soon, good luck!

They keep saying (and the answering machine at North says) the end of October, which is, of course, this coming week. I know I shouldn't expect it, but I am so anxious. I had such a terrible time scheduling A&P II since I've applied to a day and evening program, and since they are at two seperate campuses. I was schedule for 3 different classes, hoping I could hold out until we got the results, but someone at North noticed right away and made me drop two of them. Bummer. Hope we all find out something soon!

Welllll, the end of October would be wonderful but it IS the end of October :( They would probably have to mail them monday-tuesday for that to be a true statement in which case the message would probably say they've been mailed, stop calling XD. Oh well, *fingers crossed*

I called North campus and they said middle of November now.....this is killing me! I know my mailman is sick of me stalking him!:grn:

Although disappointing not completely unexpected. I would also like to stop hating Sundays specifically because there's no mail and weekends because they're not working and going though application! Which camps are you hoping to get into btw?

I am trying to get into Allegheny night...how about you?

I just called also and they said that they were hoping to get the acceptance letters out by the end of October but now it's looking like it will be the first week in November. Apparently this has been a problem that's gone on for a long time with CCAC--the other schools I've applied to had LATER deadlines and I've already heard from all of them!
