I have been working out at a gym since I was 16 years old, I wonder if now when i start nursing school, I will have anytime for this at least three times a week..keep in mind i don't work and no kids..i usually feel better when i exercise, its a great stress reliever rite? and i sleep better..My thing is, i know i will feel guilty being at the gym and i will start thinking i should be studying or doing something for school, any advice?

Continue to make exercise a priority and you will find time. You definitely need to continue working out for many reasons, especially stress reduction.

Prior to nursing school I ran every other day and didn't stop that while in nursing school. I rarely missed my run, and I worked too.

Good luck!

Should be no problem. Staying in shape will serve you well in nursing school. You have no kids or husband. Keep it that way until after you graduate!! Nursing school is not as demanding of your time as it use to be. You will have plenty of time to exercise. Just cut back on party time and demanding boyfriends.

If you keep it a priority there is no reason you can't work out. I managed it with my schedule while in nursing school, and I had children. I would finish up with school about 12:30 or 1:00. I was able to work out before my kids were home. Also, I usually had Fridays off. So, there was time to squeeze a work out in there.

Ditto to all the above. Plus, if your allowed to record lectures you can listen to them while running or doing cardio. Bottom line, you're going to be a better student if you are healthy and clear headed. If regular exercise helps keep you that way, then stick with it!

Keep up your exercise!!!! It will really help. When I went to the gym I would either listen to my recorded lectures or read my notes while walking on the treadmill. :D

:yeahthat:

If you can record your lectures a great time to listen back to them is in the gym.

With the way I learn the constant repetition of the lectures helps some of that info sink in.

I MADE time for the gym while I was in school and I have 3 kids

My "workout" in nursing school are my three thirteen hour nightshifts on my Tele floor. I've managed that and school pretty well (though sometimes I feel like I may pull my fingernails out with my teeth). This definitely sounds feasible to me.

P.S. I feel guilty for watching "So You Think You Can Dance" the day before a test, but hey, we all need our outlets...:D

Unless you are spending 5 hours a day at the gym, you will be fine. Take that hour or two a day for yourself and get away from the books.

I did my best working out when I was a nursing student and I had three young children who went to babysitting.

Be good to yourself.

Any advice?

It's absolutely doable...and I'd totally recommend it! I worked while in nursing school and still managed to work out 5-6 times a week. The only real change I made in my routine was that I spent less time outside roller blading and biking and more time actually in my gym so I could read notes/texts at the same time. I truly did my best studying at the gym because...well, there's nothing else to get distracted by while you're on the elliptical or treadmill! Working out helped me keep the last shred of sanity I had left!
