I just want to know the status of retrogression there in the US. I had my interview last year for a job in California and they offered me a job and the hospital said that they will do sponsorship for me and my family. I am still here in the UK and I just received a message from my agency and told me that my l-140 has been filed and approved. How long do I need to wait before I can go there to the US? Do you think it will take more longer due to retrogression/recession there in the US? I am a bit worried as I don't want to wait for 5 years before I can get my greencard. Please give me some advice or information. thanks very much.
again you seem to miss my point
i am not arguying about what you think i am ( i dont care about night shifts and job unemployment i care about people recruiting and making money out on foreign nurses pockets ! its not difficult to understand my post but your answer might be , i mean your first sentences and words might be an exemple and reflection on how the system works, meaning they rip you off your money and then blame you and consider you are the guilty one for not asking aroud first! wow great morality here, its so easy to do so!! but me when i asked: everyone said oh no dont worry its just a question of few month ( lol) yeah right!!!
anyway , i dont want to waste my time on this sterile conversation
i m out !
for the person who posted her question, i hope you can really read and understand my comments
and i sincerely wish you good luck in the UK!! just dont trust the american system too much which can promiss you the moon and then after when you are done paying they slam the door at your face
no offense but this is how it goes now unfortunately
the only good thing we can do is to accuse those methods and warn and inform the rest of the nurses worldwide to watch out where they step and how much they can lose if they decide to do the same thing that we did

here is also a proof of what i was told when i was recruited
and a proof of what i am talking about
that's what i was told in 2007 as well as thousands of nurses worldwide

The US government is not recruiting nurses, it is private companies that charge money - like filling out an application for ncleX, I have never seen an American nurse pay anyone for this process. Other international nurses don't use NCLEX application centers they are able to complete this on your own.
NCLEX review, I don't encourage most nurses do an expensive review while in some countries this is an industry. Most schools offer a quick review for free or for very little money.
Who is promising you the moon? If it a hospital shame on them, if it for profit agencies making big promises the issue is with these companies should be closed, in your country, as a US citizen I have no power to help you, I would complain to the local authorities
The Credential process is required by every international nurse. The alternative would be would be ask your school to become accredited by the NLN, I bet if your school was NLN approved the credential process would be much easier.
If you have been following board like this one, you would learn how to avoid scams I checked you link, is not government run.
The thing is many things changed within the US and the government had to take notice. I too expected to be in the US a lot quicker that I thought would happen unfortunately due to high demands from many countries all the visas went quickly and instead of affecting the PIC countries like it had done previously it affected many many other countries.
Things do change and it is the person's responsibility to keep up to date. Hospitals can and do change their minds as I know to my cost as well as a couple of other UK nurses I know.
It is not only nurses from foreign countries who get the rug underneath their feet shifted by employers. I have read many posts here and elsewhere from agency nurses who accept an assignment with a certain understanding, only to have it change once they arrive for work, or even after working for many weeks. Employers always hold the cards. If one does not like the conditions the employer sets forth, they have to decide whether it is worth it in the long run.
Hi
I don't think we are missing your point, it's just really hard to get sympathy with so many US nurses unable to get jobs right now. Recruitment agencies that foreign nurses work with have no connection with government agencies (immigration for example) in the US. Yes, in a perfect world recruitment agencies should let foreign nurses know in advance about the many years waiting and possibly many dollars wasted, but this is NOT a perfect world and everyone undertaking this process should investigate thoroughly what they are doing before signing any agreement or paying out money. The "american system did not promise you the moon" the recruitment agency did.

Exactly -- and one needs to keep in mind that these recruitment agencies are not charitable organizations; they are in business to make as much money as they can off of nurses who want to come to the US, not to protect the best interests of those nurses. "Let the buyer beware," as the saying goes.

Hi how are you? I have an approved i140 last year and I know currently the visa numbers are backlogged to 2003, Since RN's are under EB3 category, visa bulletin posts their updates every month. My priority date is 2009 so based from what they are processing i have about 6 years of waiting. It all depends on what year they are processing under EB3.
Anyway, I read some of the posts on this thread, re: masters degree. It's true that having a masters degree as a "Nurse" helps, because the visa numbers for EB2 is current. The determining factor is not only having/acquiring a masters but finding an employer who is willing to sponsor for an upper management position.
To those who are waiting as well, re-read the fine print in your contracts on what it entails. While waiting have a back up plan and be productive wherever you are. Doors are always open for other options. A long wait is expected.. it's all out of our hands. Think of it this way, atleast you already have ur i140 approved. so you have 1 option for the future.
Kind Regards to those of us in the same boat.

Again, though it is the individual's responsibility who wants to immigrate to fully research everything before they spend their hard earned money.
Its no secret at all that the US is in the biggest depression since the 1930's. Thats all over the international and national news.
There are no jobs for US citizens! Our unemployment rate is approximately 10% and for some age groups - its 24%!!!
In my opinion, if we can't hire our own folks, why in the heck would we be looking in other countries.
As to shifts - again, not much sympathy - I worked night shift 7pm to 7a for 15 years and I'm 51.
