Called the Nurse Manager

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I called the nurse manager this morning, I didn't expect her to answer but she did (!!!!) so I had to quickly gather myself and asked her about an update on my application. She said that HR should be contact me and to look on the Montefiore website (whats on the web?) What am I looking for she didn't say and she seemed as if she was in a rush. Im starting to think I didn't get it because wouldn't she have given me a better answer than that?

Good luck, Princess. Hope you get the answer you want.

(was there a backstory here? I feel like I turned on the TV 20 minutes into a sitcom)

Lmao that was the complete opposite, that doesn't even make sense lol. The employer I REALLY want to work for is the one I'm hurrying to get an answer from. My parents want me to work at some place that I do not want to work for (while I'm waiting to here back from my 1st choice). So I'm saying if my 1st choice offers me the job I'm jumping ship from the other place (where my parents want me to work). I would NEVER work anywhere to please anyone, my happiness comes first. But my main goal is to get the offer from my 1st choice so I won't have to go through the messiness of quitting if I've only been there a few weeks.

OK, sorry, I was confused.

Unfortunately, every application is a waiting game and there is only so many calls you can make before you can ruin your chances. I agree with other posters that contacting HR would be a better bet. But, even then, you can be met with a stone wall.

I dont understand why everyone keeps thinking I have been constantly calling...I called the NM once and HR once that's it, so I haven't ruined my chances by being annoying. I know ughhh waiting sucks. How long did it take before you got your first offer?

Good luck, Princess. Hope you get the answer you want.

Yea the backstory is at the beginning of the post.

It's been less than 2 weeks since you interviewed.

You've made your calls, now the only thing you can do is wait patiently until they make their decisions, and not take any other jobs until you learn the outcome.

Yeah, I read it.

For my first position in my current hospital, I interviewed in early November, did not know of their decision until mid-December and started in February of the next year.

If I already did not have a job, I would have gone berzerk. And I almost did actually because I really wanted this job.

Worth the wait though.

Kind of a relief that I'm not the only person who would be going a little crazy with this wait though and my parents are making it so much more stressful smh they don't understand. I'll try to be more patient. I suppose if they offered me the job desperately at my interview that could be a warning sigh sometimes ( according to topics I'm reading on this site). Thank you.

I would call HR again. State that you were expecting a call back that did not occur. In the meanwhile, you would be happy to track the status of your application online, as the NM suggested you do--and ask them what the website reference is, and how to access it. I would also ask what the timeline in hiring is. If the job is already filled, then you need to know that.

Yeah, I read it.

I had the same reaction when I read the OP. I think there must have been an initial thread at some point, and this one was sort of a follow-up.

Honestly, two weeks isn't long at all to wait for an answer. Four isn't out of line, either.

You're an adult. Tell your parents, "Thanks, Mom and Dad, I got this," and respectfully decline to include them in your Job Search any more. You are too old for Daddy to get you a job. Get it on your own.
