My friend and I applied to the nursing program at Cal State East Bay for Fall 2010 and she received her conditional acceptance package to the nursing program today. I on the other hand have only received an email (last week) requesting transcripts for the nursing department even though my application went in before hers. On the website it says that throughout December they will be emailing out requests for transcripts, not acceptance packages, so I was just wondering if I should be worried. Has anybody else received an acceptance or conditional acceptance package?
what makes you think that? Most of the schedule is pre-arranged. There is some degree of choice in the clinicals/skills times, but I think it depends on rank. Like, I was talking to some CSUEB nursing students yesterday who were at my hospital, and they said they get to choose between certain clinical sites/times but that it "depends on rank" so idk what that means. I know most of the clinicals (after the 1st qtr) are around 6-12 and some are 3-9pm or something like that.
Because May 17 is the deadline for emailing them your campus preference and whether or not you accept their offer.
Courcat! You followed me onto this thread! Lol, it was me that said I applied at Stanislaus. Didn't get in by a long shot. Alternate 49. Good luck to you!
Oh and I was originally an alternate at East Bay too. When I talked to them they asked me my preference and said they had more than enough room at both campuses available. That was like 2 weeks ago. So if you turned in your acceptance email awhile ago you should have no problem getting into the campus of your choice.
Does anyone know how often our clinical schedule will change? I was hoping I could keep my job during nursing school (part time) but if I have no definite available hours I don't think I would be able to since they schedule two weeks in advance at my work.
Thank you futuredream, hope to see you next year too! How are you liking the program so far? Do you know how it compares to Samuel Merritt's ABSN program? A nurse I know who trains new hires at Alta Bates told me she thinks the students who come from CSUEB are more well prepared than those from Samuel Merritt. Getting through school in only one year is appealing but I don't want to be completely stressed out the whole time and then come out not feeling confident..not to mention the cost of tuition, yikes! Any opinions on this?
Believe me, it will be better for you to complete a three-year program, in the current economic climate, than a one-year "rush job" program.
I have just completed the CSUEB nursing program (6 weeks ago) and am currently in my final quarter for the minor studies pattern in Human Development. I have delayed graduation as long as I can but it is coming next month. Then I'll take state boards and be dumped into the pool of unemployed graduate nurses.
I very much enjoyed the CSUEB nursing program, but beware of the legal class! Do the extra credit project if you want an 'A' !!!
Good luck and God Bless You!

If you attend classes at the Concord campus, you will probably have 2 or 3 days of "clinical" in the first quarter, although my class was in Fall 2007.
You will probably have 2 days of clinical from 0600-1200 or 0700-1300 in the Winter quarter. This will probably be at a local SNF or at Herrick rehab in Berkeley. Then you will probably have a similar schedule in the spring quarter, although you might be on PM's instead of AM's.
I just don't know how it works at the Hayward campus. I didn't have a nursing class there until my last quarter this year in Winter.
Best of luck to you!

PS: Level Two clinical schedules are much more complicated. Get through level one first and worry about level two when the time is right. cheers~
I was looking at the old schedule (the fall 09 quarter), and it looks like everyone takes the same pathophysiology and theory class.
This is correct. Most CSUEB students find the Patho class quite difficult so don't miss any classes, record the lectures, and share notes with your study group. Concentrate on Patho but don't neglect theory. First quarter seminar is fun and enlightening, and first quarter clinicals are a blast! You might visit an assisted living center and do health screenings, and then return to do presentations to the old folks on healthy lifestyle choices or whatever you choose. It's like a day at the races for the elders.
Good luck!

I chose Hayward. I live like 5-10 minutes away (depending if the traffic lights are in my favor). I don't see anything wrong with Concord, but for me it would seem like a lot of unnecessary traveling when I live so close to Hayward.
