My friend and I applied to the nursing program at Cal State East Bay for Fall 2010 and she received her conditional acceptance package to the nursing program today. I on the other hand have only received an email (last week) requesting transcripts for the nursing department even though my application went in before hers. On the website it says that throughout December they will be emailing out requests for transcripts, not acceptance packages, so I was just wondering if I should be worried. Has anybody else received an acceptance or conditional acceptance package?
No problem! :)If you take human development at Chabot, it *might* count for the human development nursing requirement, but it will not count as the UD GE requirement. So really, I would wait to take the human development class at CSUEB. They offer it online, and if you get a good professor, it's very easy.
Also, in order to graduate from CSUEB, you must take 12 units of general education in residence. That means that you need to take at least three GE classes at CSUEB to get a degree from there, and the UD GE requirements are good to fulfill this.
Lower division HDEV classes generally do NOT satisfy the requirement. And Jenn is correct that you have to take 12 units of upper division GE anyway, so why not take the HDEV 3800 class online with Dr. Borish in either of your two fall quarters?
Then you can take the B6 GE class (I think most took some recreation course).
Nursing History is the required third GE class, it's an easy A or B depending on whether you attend classes or not and it's offered in the summer quarter so you can take it between levels one and two, although you might have to drive to Hayward if you take it in summer.
I took different courses because I was in the old catalog 1999-2004. Please note that if you have been taking courses continuously at any college and can demonstrate this with transcripts you will be able to choose between old or new university catalogs ("rules").
Good luck!

I think we are supposed to print the whole thing out, answer the questions by ourselves, then review them with our doctor so they can clear us to wear the masks. I find it weird they require this though. Isn't it just a mask. And thanks for answering so many of our questions paganoid! It's really helpful.
Thanks so much!!Can you tell me any info about books? Like, would it be a huge problem if I used a couple of previous-edition books, does it depend on the class, do we have to buy our books in a huge bundle?
Generally speaking, most students buy the bundle which cost approximately 673.00 when I bought it three years ago. But you use all those books throughout the entire program (maternity textbook in level 2 maternity class, etc.) There is a DVD set in the bundle that costs literally thousands of dollars ($23,000.00 and that's not a typo!) but you get it free with the bundle, plus you get the CD with all your textbooks on it to load into your computer/laptop so you don't have to lug all those books to class every day. There's a very small number of books (3-4?) you'll buy next year, but don't fret. I do not know if previous editions will do because I bought new. Be sure to ask this question at your Orientation in August. (Level 2's will host you, answer questions, and serve lunch. It's sponsored by the East Bay Student Nurses Assoc.)
If you haven't already completed your FAFSA for student loans, do it NOW even if you do NOT plan to take student loans. You might change your mind later. TRUST ME ON THIS, PLEASE. Even if you make "too much money" to qualify for subsidized loans, everybody qualifies for unsubsidized loans. Feel free to ask questions about financial aid because I am pretty familiar with this. I have a good job and I got FA all through school.
Three years ago I was out of my mind with anticipation so feel free to gush questions. It's a good program, tough and rewarding. While you're in the thick of it you'll be happy, sad, hurt, angry, elated, annoyed, hate your teachers, love your teachers, want to quit, keep plugging and succeed, and all the other feelings in the catalog but compressed. Just take each day as it comes and don't try to plan too far ahead. Many students have gone before you and you'll do just fine, trust me.
Good luck, young Padawae learners

I did the FAFSA in January and MyCsueb says I have no financial aid awards this year (upcoming 2010-2011 school year). Last year, I had awards of unsubsidized and subsidized. I made a little more money last year, but I still expected them to offer me some unsubsidized?? And they didn't... is there a glitch here or do I need to go apply for loans elsewhere? (Hopefully this makes sense)
My friend started the nursing program in 2007 and dropped out. She gave me all of her old books, including the DVD set you were talking about (it's about nursing skills, right?).. I wonder if they have updated the DVD set or not.
What's the EBSNA about? Is it easy to get involved with it? Is it really time consuming to be involved with it?

It makes sense! You should call because I could have sworn some financial aid counselor told me they always give out subsidized and unsubsidized loans to everyone who does their FAFSA. I know I got 5500 subsidized and 2000 unsubsidized offered to me. Look around mycsueb again, but they will for sure answer your question if you call or visit them.

The "rank" is a random computer-generated priority number for future student selections. For example, if they are still going to do "cohorts" they will call students to the selection table in order of priority number. Then the next quarter they move the top 22 to the bottom of the list and so on. Then they reverse the order taking the first 22 in reverse order and so on. This keeps it fair so that everybody gets at least one quarter of selections where they choose first.
This is managed by the student nurses organization and not by the faculty or the school. It's about as fair as it can be. Don't worry, everything will be explained when the time is right.
Good luck!
