Ours closes at 6:30pm on the dot and most food is put away by 6:15pm. Really makes night shifters feel loved!!!
Once a month they will stay open all night and have hot food breakfast buffet, that is nice and all for those who happen to be working that one night a month.
Your employees will thank you for thinking of them an thier needs. Sounds like a great place to work.
Ours is open at 5:00am, with a huge breakfast buffet, which closes at 10:00am. Lunch at 11:30-1:00pm, dinner 5-6:30. Family members do complain about the dinner hour and our vending machines just changed over to all healthy choices. Prices for hosp. employees are cheap. All you can eat salad and soup bar...two bucks! You can't beat that!!
medium-sized hospital (aprox 300 beds)
cafeteria is supposed to be open until 11pm on weeknights, and 9pm on sat, and 8pm on sun. however, it often closes early after an overhead hospital announcement.
it also closes for a few hours during the day between both breakfast/lunch and lunch/dinner
opens daily at 0600.
vending machines are plentiful; unfortunately, about 1/3 of them are in the dining area of the cafeteria, which is locked when the cafeteria is locked.
two of the other "big" hospitals in town have open cafeteria service from aprox 11pm-3am daily for us night-shift workers.
like an above poster, we have plenty of late-late night delivery services available. however, they are expensive. i can't afford to eat that way on a regular basis.
Our cafeteria is open all night until 3am. It shuts down to be cleaned until 6am. At night they offer premade roll sandwiches or grilled food such as burgers and stuff. The cafeteria lady will even make breakfast for you if asked. Guess we are pretty lucky in that respect. I think we have like 400 beds or so, can never remember!
An unhappy employee is a hungry employee (not to mention brain function can sure suffer!). Hope you can make it work!

I need some information from you guys about what hours, foods, etc that your cafeteria is open for the night shift. We are trying to start to provide some sort of food services (besides vending machines) and need some general information from others. Our hospital is about 350 beds.
Any suggestions and feedback are very much appreciated!!!!:heartbeat
