What are the pros and cons of getting a BSN online vs. a BSN at an University.
What do you recommend? Why?
My long term goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner

Biggest pros of online is that you don't have to go to class. It works well for working adults who have other obligations. Are you an RN?

Biggest con of online is that it is very self directed. Some programs vary in response time from professors, clarity of assignments, and accuracy of the syllabus. Some programs are also accelerated, which shortens deadlines.
In other words, if you are not highly motivated and good at self-teaching and time management, online can be difficult.
To complete my RN to BSN, I attended 4 different colleges online and each one was very different. (Only 2 were for nursing. The others were for additional classes.)
I am not an RN. I am attending school in the fall to get my RN
So is your question about RN-BSN programs? If so, to me it's almost a no-brainer. Online, all the way.

Depends on how you learn best. Online is the most practical for working RNs.

I vote online. I wouldn't be able to attend school right now otherwise.

I prefer online. I found driving to class a pain...lot of class time wasted with useless stuff......Online, comfort from home, all the material is in front of you. Want to interact with ur classmates..start a FB group!! 1 does have to be disciplined as no 1 is forcing you to do the work....next thing u know it is assignment due date has arrived!! I like Grand Canyons RN to BSN (they have a RN to MSN and others as well) format! Every week is very similar..You have Two discussion questions you have to write up..1 is due Wed..the other Fri.....And On Sunday one usually has a paper due.....And sometimes it could be a group project (paper or powerpoint) that is due! And yes the group projects can be a pain, if u get a slacker in the group, lol or they can be very easy if u get a good group of people.

She's not in school yet, guys.
My question is, if a program is online, what's done about clinicals??
My apologies....I would still prefer online..and then to class for Lab....Why? I am a fairly reserved person, so that does figure into the equation....But I found in my ADN program that many did not do the readings....so they asked questions and questions (showing that they did not do thew readings) and wasted mine and other students time! I actually left half way through the classes...better spent reading! Plus figuring in the time it took me to drive to and from class....that was time I could have been reading/studying! But that is me, some want to be in the classroom and learn better that way! 1 can create FB pages and have study groups that way....I was in my mid 30's and married, so the hanging out with other students was important to me,lol If I was younger, maybe it would be...

I assumed she was talking about post-RN BSN bridges. Do online BSN programs exist?

I prefer online classes, though i just started taking my preq this summer but couldn't waste time driving to and fro class. I found out that, i finished all my assignments before due date and i could read and learn on my own without being in class plus am a married woman with two children, my babysitter increased her fare in the middle of summer 1......all these make me to switch to online classes and its working for me. I plan to get my BSN doing online classes.
