Broward College Nursing May 2015

Published

Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

RescueNinja123, this is not my last semester but I am nearing the end. Don't let other people's opinions or horror stories scare you away. Everyone is going to have an opinion but what matters most is your own perception of things. I too heard awful things about the program but guess what? It was usually from people who failed out and had feelings of bitterness or resentment. It's easy to put the blame on everyone else, what really takes guts is taking responsibility for your own actions and looking within yourself to see what went wrong and how to fix it. I currently have 3 classes left and I haven't had to retrack, and I have many classmates who are in the same boat as me. It's not true that everyone has to retrack at one point. Even if you do though, it's not the end of the world. Like the song says.. Dust yourself off and try again lol. And as dolfanjenny said before, the students who disappear from the threads are just way too busy being focused on their goal, which is not a bad thing.

Seeing this made my day, thank you soo much. This is by far the best news I've heard about Broward College nursing program. Please stay focus and make sure to come back after to give us even better news.🎓🎓🎉🎉

Specializes in Critical Care.

RescueNinja123, the journey to become a nurse is a difficult one. Filled with dedication and sacrifice no matter the direction you choose. But, if its your passion, then it can be one of the most rewarding journeys and career paths for you. So, don't let negative stories deter you from your passion. However, you must learn from others that went before you and move forward in the most positive way. With the Broward Nursing Program you will be pushed passed your comfort zone. Some courses you will be expected to learn 8 to 15 chapters in a 2 or 3 week period and then be tested with exams that go deeper than simple memorization, but truly understanding and applying the material and the nursing profession. You will have to do an ungodly long patient profiles and work with patients with disease states that you may not be familiar with. But, you'll research that disease, learn how to talk to patients and their families, and study for 10 hours or more on both saturday and sunday to learn what you need to be successful. All of this pressure will force you to become an amazing student, a competent nurse, and a stronger person.

I also have 3 classes left (really only 2, I don't count trends) and there are people with me who haven't retracked. But, I say more than half the people we started with have retracked or aren't in the program anymore. This is the truth and from what I've seen pretty standard. However, this is due to admission qualifications aren't very strict and many people go in not fully understanding or read for how intense the program is. But if you can get through process I and II then you can make it through the entire program. You will need to work harder than you ever had in your life, but you will have a solid foundation so you can be come a confident and competent nurse from one of the most respected programs in south florida hospitals. Good luck and may you accept all the blessings and overcome all the challenges life has for your.

Wow. I know this wasn't directed to me specifically, but I thank you so much for your words. its great to hear your positivity towards the program and best of luck on the last set of classes

oh i was just being metaphorical, i just mean i take everything straight out of the book lol sorry, should've been more clear on that.

Does anyone here know anything specific about the class starting in August 2015? Have they sent out letters or acceptances to anyone yet? Are there campuses that are already full, etc...
