Hello,
I am really interested in working at Brookdale Medical Center, Brooklyn - does anyone know their interview process or can any current RN give me their insight on working in the facility?
Thank you.

They were recently cited by OSHA for protect staff from violence: https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=NEWS_RELEASES&p_id=26514
So I would wager to say the working conditions there aren't great, but hopefully they are making improvements.
Thank you Seconddegreebsn, those violations are very current too .

Isn't this the same hospital where a nurse was assaulted after pulling a Foley out from a male patient?

the RN wasnt assaulted b/c she pulled a foley...she was assaulted b/c she told the patient he is discharged and so she started getting him ready to go home. The patient did not want to go home and hit the nurse with an IV pole and kicked and stomped on her several times. She had brain damage after. This i heard from a coworker of hers and she was also in care at my hospital (an HHC city hospital). Brookdale may have improved their work environment. But I do not know. However you can ask in person this to the interviewers, HR, or even nurses that currently work there before/after your interview or even before that you can go in to explore and ask the employees you may meet in the lobby etc how is the work environment.

Oh goodness! That's a nightmare!!!
yea... this fellow was one of the few patients who want to live in the hospital and do not want to leave. The staff may have missed a mental issue in him or who knows may be he acted normal and just snapped when he did not get what he wanted (to stay at the hospital). I heard from an agency nurse last year at my hospital that occasionally got sent to Brookdale on assignment...that many patients at Brookdale are terrible and aggressive. I have seen many ads in the past month or two for Brookdale hiring RNs for all units and even stating open to new grads. I would think they have revamped their employee security. I know another hospital, Wyckoff Heights, that was in danger of closing (due to finances etc) mass hired a lot of new grads in January and I spoke to someone who works there and she said everything is stable now at Wyckoff. Perhaps, Brookdale is also fixing its situation or has fixed it already. Brookdale also has or had financial issues besides the employee safety issue.
Thanks guys. I wonder how that Nurse is doing now. This is a situation no one ever imagines could happen at work.
I applied to Brookdale as an experienced nurse earlier this year and got no calls, oh well they lost out!
I'm on a travel assignment now, I guess I'm better off anyway.

That nurse was sent to kingscounty hospital for care but ultimately passed away, I believe.
