Regarding release of RN license

Published

Hello, I am an RN-passed my exam from NYBON last year but still NYBON did not release my license as my school was approved and not accredited, but now I see that it is accredited by ACCSC, so my question is if NYBON will release my license or not?

Thanks

Acceptable NURSING accreditation organizations in NY are ACEN and CNEA along with NY Board of Regents.

Thank you so much.

I have already Florida RN license, can I transfer my license to NY, remember my school was only approved before that was the reason NY board did not issue me a license, but now it is accredited by ACCNC. So is it possible if NYBON will let me transfer my RN license from Florida to NY?

Doubtful --Great difficulty in getting NY license if  FL nursing program was  not accredited by above organizations. Allnurses members report waiting over a year.

P.S.:

NY residents should contact their state assemblymen for assistance with Board of Nursing application delays as that's why we pay taxes to get help with state services!

This Tuesday I called NYBON and asked I have already Florida license, can I still get endorsed or get my NY license? but they did could not satisfy me when I asked that you have already issued license to my classmates and then why you are holding my license when we are graduated from same school, then she had no answer and after waiting for one hour, she hung up on me. I think it is totally a political and beurocratic problem, they even don't know how to tackle all this issue, when they initially messed up the matter. They allowed us to sit for exam, they had commitment with the colleges of Florida, they might took mandatory fees from colleges, to give them approval and now they are putting all the guns on our shoulders, and blaming us that why we went to Florida schools? And nobody is asking them that why you gave permission to Florida schools to let allow their student to take exams from NY. Is it not insane? You mean that we have to write a letter to our assemblymen to highlight the issue? Its the election year and again there will be point scoring.

CALL not write NY assemblymen, ask for a meeting even zoom to discuss issue with their staff to get them look into license issue.  Its advice I've been giving AN members for years --nothing to do with elections.  Many members have had licenses issued after government representative contacted boards of nursing or had information confirmed why not eligible for a license.

Its imperative that nursing graduates take NCLEX ASAP after graduation and not wait --take within 1st year.  So many AN members post that their classmates given a license, but they took exam 2-3 years post graduation, school suddenly closed or was shut down -- putting them in limbo.

Please try my advice --you have everything to gain, nothing to lose by contacting state government official: assemblymen in NY, state representative in other states.

Thank you so much for your kind advice. I have already emailed him and on Monday I will again email to set up a zoom meeting to see the matter seriously. And you are right I have nothing to loose, as I already have a Florida license at least. So let me try this option also. Thanks once again for your kind advice.

Wonderful news!   So one week  after contacting assemblyman, license issued.

Contacting one's local government representatives imperative to get response from government entity's like Boards of Nursing when phone calls not working.

Wishing for a long nursing career.
