Has someone from Florida applied to NYBON recently?

Updated:   Published

I'm from Florida and I applied to the board of NY on April and still haven't receive my ATT. My school says that they are not acceptiong applications from Florida, but I read here https://www.regents.nysed.gov/sites/regents/files/423ppca1revised.pdf that they still accepting all aplications but they are analizing every applicant that it is not from NY, and if the school looks suspicious they won't accept that person.

Has someone else applied and had they ATT already?

Thanks in advance

Hello nurses,

I passed two months ago. Unbeknownst to me the NY BON is holding my license because of operation nightingale. It's frustrating that I'm getting penalized for some people's poor conduct. I didn't even graduate from any of those schools that committed fraud, the school I even went to was in a different county and is ACEN accredited. Furthermore when that debacle transpired I already graduated (I graduated in 2021). If the BON knew about this they shouldn't have allowed me to sit and test under them and advise me to test in another state. I paid to take the NCLEX and passed. Rightfully so they should release my license. I spoke to the dean of my school and she told me that there's nothing I can do about it and to retake the NCLEX again. I can't wrap my head around going to retake that exam. That exam is traumatizing. I can't believe I'm stuck in this nightmare.

This allnurses thread will help you understand issue and is updated as info known. Most 2023 ATT applications remain on hold since February for Florida nursing school grads, especially from unaccredited programs. Due to fraud involved in Operation Nightengale with NY BON targeted by Florida schools as place to take NCLEX as many times necessary to get passed exam along with sheer volume of requests made, each application under heavily scrutinized review. Expect months to get any resolution.

@Laura Reyna

As I pointed out to you in my reply to the same question - that article (PDF link) says nothing about "analyzing every applicant" - at all. That document is simply an initial emergency resolution that allows the NYBON to look at the curriculum of schools and decide whether they will be accepted or not. The resolution is expected to be extended in July and August and then made permanent in September. Individual students are not addressed at all.

I understand your worry, concern and frustration. But continuing to ask the same question over and over isn't going to change the answer. As @NRSKarenRN has pointed out: "Expect months to get any resolution." You need to prepare for the idea that your nursing license may not ever happen in NY. That if your school was closed, the degrees - even if legitimate - may never be accepted by some BONs. I don't know when you graduated - but - it may be best to try and keep your skills sharp by volunteering or working in a lower-level healthcare role for now. I don't know where you are living, but returning to Florida - if it is possible to sit for the NCLEX there - may be the best solution. You won't be able to practice in NY - but at least you will be practicing.

My school isn't on the list either yet they gave me ATT and I was able to sit on June 30th and pass. Now,  I am waiting... They should've never approved my application and allow me to test if an investigation was going on. I waited 3yrs for my license and now I have to continue to wait. This is very frustrating.

Specializes in I took the NCLEX I passed since March 25,23. I'm.

I passed NCLEX since March 25,23 from New York I'm from Florida. I'm still waiting for the license. No response yet. I,m thinking to take it again from Florida Board. Any advised?

Thank you for your help. I read that all schools are in hold until further notice.

@Idealista my school is not close and it is not even in the list of school that committed fraud. That its why I'm more concern. But after doing some investigation I found out all schools form Florida are in hold. I'm concidering my options. Thanks again for your answer.

I agree, if you graduated in 2021 and took the test in 2023 your  ACEN accredited school should not be under question.  But you waited too long. Things came to the light, Since your school is ACEN accredited Florida might grant your license. Hoping!

(Original quote from the poster said taking the NCLEX again would be traumatizing)

The NCLEX is NOT traumatizing. Being raped, seeing someone murdered.... that is traumatizing. (While you didn't) Don't tell me you have PSTD from the NCLEX. If you did it once, you can do it again. It is minimal competency. Will you be minimally competent every day you work?

Depend I just applied I have received ATT less than a month .

I wanted to asked if anyone have been using Lippicott and what level is ready to sit for exam I am between 6-8 level
