My sincere condolences to all those impacted in relation to Brian Short and his family. This is so tragic and I am saddened to hear of this news. I have come to this community time and time again for guidance, support, and laughter and this was all made possible by the founder Mr. Brian Short. Thank you for creating Allnurses.com. May you and your family rest in peace.
I was just doing that too. Cartoons and sound advice.
Two really good threads - one I missed.

Somehow I hope their loved ones will make peace with this tragic event in time. It would be natural for even the most understanding and compassionate person to struggle with feelings of anger rather than forgiveness initially. Although I am a nurse and live/work not too far from where this took place, I did not know the family personally. But the news touched me very deeply, especially since I also have three children. Honestly I have very mixed feelings about what happened. Out of respect for this online community (which I have followed off and on for years and have always appreciated the lively activity and bounty of information here), and the communities in which the family lived, I will only add my sincere condolences to the rest already posted. I truly hope those affected will feel the outpouring of love/support and allow it to carry them through their darkest hours. On another note: does anyone who worked with Brian directly know what happened to their family pet (a small dog)? It was mentioned in a news report last week that it was found alive in the home. I am interested in adopting the animal if it hasn't found a permanent home yet.
Brian and Karen's siblings and other extended family may have taken the dog. I know his brother and other relatives are local. There has been no mention of seeking an outside adoption. Quite often extended family will take the pet.
This family tragedy has touched around the world. The loss of Brian, Karen, Cole, Madison and Brooklyn has impacted many. The limited information released to the public as well as the subsequent speculation by many make the whole situation more difficult. We can only work with what we know. The legacy of this site and the beautiful images & memories of the family that remain can help.
