Official Statement Regarding Passing of Brian Short, Founder of allnurses.com, September 12, 2015
We are deeply saddened by the unexpected death of Brian Short, founder of allnurses.com. We respectfully request that you grant the company's employees, friends, families and associates privacy during this difficult time. allnurses will continue to support nursing professionals by providing an unparalleled peer-to-peer online community where they can share experiences and learn from and support one another.
Please use this thread to post your comments of condolence and gratitude for Brian who created this wonderful nursing community that has benefited so many.
I was deeply saddened when I heard. I have waited to post until now because, as a nurse, I want so badly to say something comforting. We don't know what to do when we can't fix something, because we are used to helping in a very tangible way.
One of the first things that I noticed was that some of the people that were most affected by this tragedy have been working around the clock to honor Brian's memory by keeping this thread open. Thank you. I know that his loved ones, when they are able, will read these comments. If they can find some solace in knowing that their son/brother/friend/uncle/neighbor meant so much to so many people then that is really the only thing that matters.
I stopped reading about it online because all of the explanations do not really speak the truth.
This is the truth:
Something went terribly wrong.
The world lost 5 people who mattered very much.
It is devastating.
Shock and saddened...unfortunately I will never meet the person that allowed us all to be able to interact and transcend across generational, cultural and intellectual differences to find support, become knowledgeable and form friendships, inspiration and impact nurses across the globe.
Sending vibes of comfort to all who were impacted by this loss.

Thank you for that, madwife2002. Like others, I was concerned about the dog. I hope he brings comfort to the remaining family members.
