I was just wondering how you feel about this subject. Do you have them? Would you get them? Have you cared for patients with them and what was your experience? Have you seen any good or bad outcomes?
The number of women who are "extremely satisfied" with their breast implants is 19%. The number of women with "serious complications" from breast implants is also 19%. Everyone else falls somewhere in between. There is also a high deflation rate with saline filled implants. Don't make this decision lightly. (There is a very high satisfaction rate with mastopexy & breast reduction)
Yes. This is true. Another problem....and this can be a biggy. I went to have an ultrasound of my heart once and the MD was not able to move my breast over enough to get a good picture of the entire heart. Scary.I had a mammogram recently and felt too like the lady was going to pop them. But she was very good and everything went fine. I guess they saw everything, who knows, because they said that I didn't have any cysts.
I have enjoyed your input! I have had inplants myself, but mine are saline. Like you, I was only a "nearly A" cup before and had spent my life hearing relatives "talk" about my flat chestedness... I and my husband had talked about it. He was going to give that gift to me on my 40th b-day, but he passed away from lung cancer at age 40 when I was stilll only 38 (going on 39)... so, at age 41 I gave his gift to myself and was in college for the first time by then... now, I'm in 4th semester of the nursing program. I have NO REGRETS for doing it, although I will admit that I "hold them together" often when I'm bra-less, cause I just hate to feel that feeling of them going aside (which I never had before). But, when I did it... it had NOTHING by then to do with a man... only me... and my own desires... and desires to wear shirts and clothes that I could never wear before, and now I can! It's finally nice to have CLEAVAGE! It's finally nice to FEEL like what society makes us feel like we SHOULD feel as a woman. It's finally nice NOT to be the subject of family discussions anymore... no regrets whatsoever!
The only thing I'll hang my head and admit to... is that I've not yet had the courage to trust the technician with the mammogram... I live in a small town and can still imagine the "expertise" in this area not being as prepared as what I would come to trust. :sofahider

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for this thread. I haven't even read on... My daughter wants this for her high school graduation present:uhoh3: and I'm anxious to hear what all have to say.

I think it depends on her reasons for wanting it myself... I know you feel you must be careful to make a decision that young for her. But, for me... I lived in the "topic" all my life regarding the size (small, underdeveloped) of my breasts.... and now that I have had it done in my 40s... I wish I had had it done in my 20s!... But, other than that... I cannot advise you on the age of 18 for that decision. Maybe you can make a deal with your daughter... that on her graduation from COLLEGE... you'll be HAPPY to give her that gift if she still wants it!... Just a thought from my own personal life perspective...
I can't really comment on whether I would get them because I have always had really big breasts so I can't really relate to having small breasts. I'm not even going to pretend I understand what it's like to have small breasts. I actually have the opposite problem, often wishing I had smaller boobs. I don't like it when guys I have never even seen before start making comments about me or my body just because I have big breasts. It's very shallow. It would also be much easier to find clothes that fit me, since I have large breasts but am 5'3 and 105 lbs. Being more in proportion would make everything so much easier!
I have breast implants. I love them! I went from a 34B to about a 34-36D.
Even on my 5' 7", size 6 frame, they look fairly natural. My surgeon did an outstanding job. (Lovely man, by the way.)
I would definately do it over again. The surgery itself was not painful, and they look beautiful.
I don't get the social stigma that surrounds breast implants and the "oh, they're fake" talk. My philosophy? If they can be squeezed, they're real.:)

Right on! People should not be quick to judge the decisions individuals choose to make. Coloring your hair, make-up, cosmetic surgery, etc. If it suits you why not?
