Had my nclex today, not getting good vibes!! Loads and loads of questions about drugs I have never heard of, and it stopped at 75. Not looking very good me thinks! Will probably have to pay to do it again. Hey ho!!

Hi!
That's one of my worries also. I'm still reviewing for my National Local Exam here in the Philippines, and plan to take the NCLEX next.
I pray that you will pass.

Good luck. It is a dreadful test. No one, walks out feeling good about it.

Without wishing to sound contradictory, my wife and I felt OK about it - it was a bit of an anti-climax and it's more about technique in answering the questions and a sprinkling of luck than overall vast subject knowledge.
My theory is that most nurses would be able to have a damn good go at 50% of questions. Of the 50% left over, 25% will be a 50:50 choice and the remaining 25% you may never know or care about.
I passed on 126 questions and have not done a vast amount of clinical work in the past five years (did about 2 months worth of practice questions at an hour a night) and my wife passed on 76 questions after doing bugger all preparatory work and she's a midwife and a little bit thick
Saying that, we've both been nurses for 20+ years each and must have picked up a few things on the way through life.
Best advice to anyone is to read the question properly then read it again.
Cheers

Hey I felt awful when I took test and when it stopped at 109 I was convinced I had failed, it only took me 35 mins to do 109 so I was conviced I'd rushed it too. I was distraught, but 4 days later I found out I'd passed. I agree with Owen it is technique rather than anything else. I dont agree with Owen about midwives and when we meet up I shall punish him for that remark :trout:

I would never dis a midwife - I'd like to remain intact for a few more years . Belinda was sat next to me when I wrote the comment about her being a little thick. Just to set the record straight, she isn't at all thick and does all the thinking in our house leaving me to do all the doing.
That's equality for you. It's my annual turn to wear the trousers soon.

The only thing thick around here is DH ears after I have boxed them.

Good for you Belinda, show him who wears the trousers in your house:rotfl: :rotfl:
I didn't even have a look in on the 'who gets the Premium Membership?' issue. Not even asked if I'd like to. It was a done deal.
We all know what midwives are like And to be married to one? You wouldn't want to go there

I just wanted to tell you that you have a really good chance at having passed if the computer stopped the test after seventy-something questions. You would have to be overwhelmingly wrong in your test answers for the test to end so soon. Otherwise the computer is geared to continue to give you more questions and more chances until it grades you as doing well enough to pass or you have run out of questions that give you more chances to get a passing score.
I was convinced that I had failed when I took the NCLEX in '95. My husband works with computers and kept assuring me that ending with the minimum questions was good - he was certain that I had passed even while I waited in terror for my results.
Best of luck!
