Specializes in Psych/Mental Health.

Best thing is interacting with patients from all walks of life. I also like most of my coworkers.

The pay is definitely not it for me. RN pay simply isn't great when you factor in the stress, responsibilities, shift hours, and loss of weekends. I was paid far more with much less stress in my previous career.

Specializes in nurseline,med surg, PD.

My life has been very interesting.

Specializes in Psych (25 years), Medical (15 years).

The best thing is being able to use my critical thinking skills on a regular basis in order to help my patients.

Specializes in Ortho, CMSRN.

Listening to patient's stories. I've met some amazing people!

I'm a member of the world's greatest profession. Greatest. Not oldest people!

Specializes in Palliative, Onc, Med-Surg, Home Hospice.
Honestly- it has been meeting fascinating people whose paths I would never have crossed had I pursued my first career choice*.

(*Fifth Beatle)

You can't be the fifth Beatle. I am the fifth Beatle! :)

Specializes in ICU.

Elastic waistbands and a middle class salary.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Pediatric Float, PICU, NICU.

Besides the paycheck....the kids. If I had to work with adult patients I would have never ever became a nurse.

Knowing I made someone's day bettter

-Feeling trusted, professional and accomplished.

-Good pay/job stability

-Having so many different options (specialty, setting, hours, etc.)

But most of all- making people feel good, inside and out :)

Getting a patient that is circling the drain and getting them to turn the corner. Nothing like it.
