This is something I never thought would be relaxing, and in fact was a bit scared of until yesterday.
My on leave from the army brother and I went out shooting. Shotguns, a handgun, and a big old Russian bolt-action thing. It was great. I do everything from working out to meditation already, but I haven't felt so relaxed or slept this well for a long time. Already signed myself up for a handgun safety/training course and everything. Something I definatly will be doing again after I've gotten some training.
Anyone else?

I've been known to go to the range to do a couple hours of target shooting for the heck of it.......more often, I'll just go out back with the BB pistol my SIL gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago, and plink away at soda cans mounted on fence posts. I find it not only good practice, but very stress-relieving as well!

I second that! (Or third that :) ) I signed up for a training course a couple of years ago and LOVED it! I really need to start going again.

When I was in the Navy I was an expert marksman on the M-16. I can remember there being a little euphoric buzz about it. Maybe I should try some target shooting at a range or something. Cool idea.

ain't that the truth!
i've never even held a real gun...they freak me out. but maybe i should look into it. do you think the people at the shooting range would mind if i taped some of our more ridiculous, redundant forms to the targets first?

You have to check what the range policy is, I go to one range and they let you use non bulls eye targets, while other ranges strictly forbid them, but most will let you use "shoot and see" targets, see if your range has an instructor available, they can teach you to be safe and competent in 1 afternoon.

I bought this yesterday:
Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm pistol :)
I wanted the Beretta Ninety-two FS
... but good luck getting your hands on one! Since the election, guns and ammo have become very tight. Demand is waaaaaaay up, supply just can't keep up.
I'm working overtime and scheming to get my hands on a Korean War issue M1 Garand:
I trained on Lee-Enfield SMLEs and Webley revolvers back in the day.
But yeah, I go to the range quite regularly (about once a week). Trying to organize a shooting/hunting club at work...
And yes, it's fabulous stress relief!!
cheers,
I just got my hands on a Springfiled XD 9mm, 16rd. Lucky to find one with the 16 round capacity, along with a couple extra magazines.
It was between the XD and the M&P, but the XD just fit better in my hand, and I was pleasantly suprised by how accurate I was able to shoot it right off.
I've put 300 rounds through it so far, and love the thing. And the range lets me use admission forms as targets. :)
The ammunition shortage is getting a bit old though...

Until I tore my knee up, I used karate as stress relief. You have a bad day in the office, and get to go kick someone in the head, presto no stress...(of course, they're trying to kick you in the head, too...). My knee's better, but it was the leg I'd land on for spinning kicks, and it won't take the torque anymore....
And the range lets me use admission forms as targets. :)

I miss doing some target practice to release my stress, but looking at getting a pucnhing/kick bag to set up to tear up some major stress!
