Bed bath skill check

Published

Do you have to bathe each other during your bed bath skill check? We have to wear a bathing suit or shorts & a halter top. We also have to brush each others teeth. I was just wondering if this was common. I don't mind bathing a stranger, but it will be weird having a classmate scrub between my toes!!!!

:imbar no....we don't have to bathe eachother but that might not be a bad idea. May be embarassing but you may learn from it. Good luck!

WOW, you really use each other! We have our checkoffs for bathing, ROM, handwashing....Thursday. We get to use mannequins, and we don't even use water...just pretend. I have to admit, the mannequins are not at all like the real thing...How many grown patients will we have that weigh 20 pounds???

We don't use each other for skills check offs, but we do use each other for assessment.

For skills check offs we use the dummies in the lab.

we did our check off on hand washing today. we will do blood pressure and bed making tomorrow. as for as i understand it, we will use the "dummy". we are doing some assessments on each other.

no, we used dummies for every skill checkoff we had.

We used each other and it paid off. It gave us a whole new perspective on the patients and how they feel.

We also used each other.... We even had to make a video of our bed and bath... And we also gave each other injections... Talk about fun.... During 3rd semester we also have to hit your partners vein and start and iv... What fun.... I agree with Nascargirl... It does make it more REAL and you see the anxiousness that patients feel..

We use each other for skills. In fact, I wore my all time favorite shorts today -- bicycle shorts half down the thigh and a baggy shirt.

For the bandaging since I was in the shorts, I had my legs wrapped at least 7 times today!!! But I don't think I am going to volunteer to wear the bathing suit... I think I put my time in today!

Our lab is set up so we can go at our own pace, and luckily I hooked up with a guy who is re-doing the course. He is great at teaching and doing skills, and we get a lot done in our 6 hour clinicals. So far, I have checked off on ROM, ace bandaging/ TEDs, and vital signs in 3 days.

We will even be doing shots on eachother.

We did assessments on each other. Things went fine until *sigh* my poor lil feet were soooo cold, even the instructor couldn't get a pedal pulse. :lol2:

hey!!

For the bed bathing, we are using the dummies. But for occupied bed making, we have to use each other as partners. Our instructors did tell us to go home and have our spouses bathe our face and arms so we can get a feel for what it is like on the other side of all this.

We checked off on bed bath with a real patient.

Occupied bed--we took turns in clinical lab. Same for assessments.
