Become a Nurse without Nursing School

Published

Anyone know of any opportunities abroad to become a nurse thru apprenticeship rather than thru traditional education?

(I'm fed up with looking for accelerated programs, having to meet bogus requirements, etc. I'd rather just do on-the-job training for 3/4 the pay in some other country. Anyone know of anything like this?)

I said I had it to help me through school. It's all about different diseases and issues, medication, videos on how to place IV's, things like that.

There are no dreamy doctors or jello. There are stethoscopes, but not people unicorn ones. :(

Oh dear, did you mention Pintrest? I had no idea and I totally wasn't making fun. I was trying to think of another radical way to become a nurse without going to school. Just trying to be funny...so sorry if I came across as making fun of you.

I know YOU weren't.

But seriously, there's some helpful stuff on there for students. Videos galore!

There are people who have tried the "short-cut" route to becoming a nurse; they are listed under the "imposter alert" section of my state Board of Nursing.

This made me laugh so hard my 2 year old jumped straight in the air!!! I scared the crap out of her. Literally. Bahahahahaha that's awesome.

I didn't see anything as cool as that on my state's BON page :(

On mine, you'll only see it if you have the name of the imposter.

Couldn't snag any good dirt about imposters on my state's BoN either. Oh well.

it is never sarcoidosis.

ETA......

OMG AN. I intentionally put that in all caps. You're messing with my mojo over here.

I totally heard that in caps, because that's how House talks!!

I had to present my degree to the hospital I work for so be careful not to go off and spend your time doing something that will limit what you can come home and do later with your experience.

This made me chuckle. I wish we'd had the Internet--or computers for that matter--when I was in school the first time. My search engine was the Dewey decimal system and my word processing program was a good old standard typewriter.

I finished my BSN online, 33 years later and going to school was a totally different experience.

anyone else loving the fact that we are now over 100 posts in on a thread that the OP has completely disappeared for? I only wish there were a way now to let people know to not bother to actually answer the OP, lol, as the only one who should take him seriously is..... HIM! :)

Maybe this program still exists....

I can't "like" this enough. Where on earth did you find that ad?
